Re: Bleeding from Lady parts - Please help!

Our Rory (female) had regular bleeding from her vagina and was spayed, as the vet thought it would help. But it didn't and she died a few months later after bleeding almost constantly over quite a few days. It was really awful and distressing, especially as she was our heart rat too. I think t...

Re: Will she be ok on her own??

Thanks for the replies.

Ember was found dead in her igloo this morning. :( So, now it's quite urgent to get some more friends for Autumn, so I have just contacted both breeders, who we got them from originally.

Will she be ok on her own??

Do you think Autumn will be ok on her own for the rest of her days, or should we definitely look into getting a couple more rats to keep her company? She's 18 months old and her cage mate Ember is very ill and we don't think she has very long to go. :( After keeping rats constantly for almost seven ...

Re: Blood in Ear

I think a trip to the vets would be wise. When my lot are ill I always give things like: nutrical, baked beans, avacado, porridge, baby food (they prefer the desert flavours), mashed banana and a bit of maple syrup or something similar. If there is only one rat that I need to feed up I always give ...

Blood in Ear

Just lately, Jack-Bear who was a rescue and around 2 years old now, has lost quite a bit of weight and we've also noticed that sometimes he has little traces of blood in his ear and there are also specks of blood on the inside of the lid of the igloo. Sometimes he acts absolutely fine, but other tim...

Re: Flax oil

Most vegetable oils (including Flax) should be kept out of light and heat and also, exposed to oxygen as little as possible. This is from a website I found: Oxidation / Rancidity leading to possible Flax Oil Side Effects This is not so much a flax oil side effect, as it is a note of precaution regar...

Re: soya what to get & where?

I've heard a lot lately about the dangers of unfermented soya in humans, so have stopped giving the rats any soya products for quite a while now.

Re: Strange Behaviour Regarding Back Legs...

Thanks for the replies. Jack-Bear was thankfully back to normal just a while after I posted. :D We are still confused as to what was wrong with him though. He was neutered well over a year ago, so it wasn't anything to do with that. We were wondering if it's possible he could have had trapped wind o...

Strange Behaviour Regarding Back Legs...

Jack-Bear is about 20 months old and we have just noticed that he keeps stretching out his back legs and sort of sucks his sides in at the same time. Really confused and worried about this. He seemed to be fine yesterday. :( He's just laying at the moment, but keeps doing back leg stretching in betw...

Re: Started vaginally bleeding again!

what happened? :( Hi, thanks for asking. :) She is fine now! :D Well she just finished her week of Baytril yesterday and had a tiny bit more blood the other evening, but we're hoping it won't come back, though it might at any time. But, we really thought we were going to lose her last week. B...

Re: Best Iron Sources - Please Help!!!

Going to get the iron sachets today, but Rory has not improved at all after all her injections yesterday afternoon. We've been syringing liquids and vitamins into her, but she just looks awful, has no energy and is so fluffed up and just sleeping all the time. :( Really think we're going to lose her...
