Re: Turning a dog crate into a ratty home...

if the bar spacing was a it smaller I'd be copying your idea. Looks like a great cage, but my girls are still a bit small and a couple of them would probably be able to squish themselvesout of that. booo!

Re: Number of rats/ wheels

I got my wheel when I get the girls, Pixie and Gigi used it as a shelving unit, no interest what so ever in running in it. Cue Delilah's arrival. After 4 months she decided to climb onto the shelves and see what they could do - and what do you know, it's actually some kind of exercise machine! From ...

also reduced to £60 on the p@h website at the moment. Not sure if that is that good a price, just noticed it was reduced when eying up the SRS.

Re: FLIES!!

My living room seems to be a rest stop for all forms of flying insects. I find it quite ammusing, my dog chases them, does a pretty good job of catching most, then spits them out looking confused. My bedroom where the small fuzzies live, well I haven't seen any flying friends in there recently. Eith...

Re: Classroom pets?

I don't think my OCD would allow me to leave pets in a classroom over night. I was doing a unit on animal testing and considered asking my head if the girls could come in, would also love to have a cage in my class so the girls could come in regularly. I decided against it though. I work in a behavi...

All the rats in sewers are just pet rats that got a bit too involved in Squiggles for their own good. Couldn't pay the rent and support a Squiggles habit, so moved onto the street... :-o

Re: Enrichment

Have you tried them with a wheel? If you get one and they don't use it you can always sell it - people always want wheels. Our boys have a Silent Spinner, but they used to have a Wodent Wheel and are happy to use either. If the laminate floor is scary can you put a blanket or something down for the...

Re: Infested!

I did have a creepy crawly of some form in the most recent bag I ordered...although that was just one. Like a big ant, but I think it had wings? My dad assures me he liberated it in the garden and checked the other bags and couldn't see anything....I appear to be easy spooked by insects in my rat fo...

Re: Creating a challenging (weightloss) environment...help?!

I'm currently trying to get my girls more active in the cage as well. Pixie and Delilah and forever running about but Gigi is looking a bit portly. Even when freeranging her only activity is finding ways into the treat bucket. I have just placed an order at ecf and the rat warehouse for a few bits a...

Re: SRS opinions

Think I might need to start saving. My girls bounce everywhere, so thinking the extra space would do them good.

Re: Infested!

well my girls have been fed....but now I'm a little worried about baking :P Used to make up little charm pouches with herbs, flowers and crystals. Kept all the stuff in tuperware tubs in a box under my bed...that is until I found the box crawling with tiny little bugs :o Found the source pretty quic...

Re: SRS opinions

I check amazon and zooplus regularly, at the moment they aren't as cheap as ecf but they do alternate so will be sure to check before I actually order one. Also keeping my eyes open for a 2nd hand one. If I don't have something to save for I end uo wasting my money - so may start working towards thi...

Re: Infested!

I am honestly now a little scared to go feed my girls.... Like a few have already said, bugs don't bother me unless they are in large menacing gangs...and even the thought of that freaks me out. Thankfully never happened, and hoping if it ever does the rats will protect me. The men in my family are ...

SRS opinions

I've been checking out the SRS for a few months now trying to decide if it's a good investment or not. At the moment I can't afford it, but considering saving my pennies for when equinecaninefeline get it back in stock. As it stands at the moment I have 3 girls in an abode - not sure if the SRS migh...

Re: **URGENT** Mouth secretions

don't know that I'll be much help but one of my boys once ate a yoggie too fast, think it might have gone down the wrong way, while he was trying to bring it up there was loads of white secretion coming out his mouth. took him a fair while to sort himself out, but seemed happy enough when I was rubb...
