Looks like what I've been told is rusting. One of my ratties had the same symptoms, I treated the whole cage for mites and it didn't go away. Then after a suggestion from someone else, I cut her nails (just removing the sharp tip with nail-clippers). The nails weren't particularly sharp and I didn't see her scratching more, but two days late...

Cloudy baytil isn't effective so I've been told. And I've also been told that contamination of the baytril makes it go cloudy quickly - so washed syringes with teeny bits of water or bits of food/med hiding stuff on the end of a syringe being reused is to be avoided. I have never failed yet with Mayonnaise, Condensed milk (only use a teeny tiny bit!) and jam.

My vet would have said to giver her an eighth of a tablet twice daily. That's what my girls are on atm. (ronaxan 20mg)

Toothpaste is the best thing in the world for removing ink. As long as you thoroughly rinse it of the ratties afterwards, so it doesn't dry their skin out, I think they wouldn't mind too much.

It really does get ink off anything, wet or dry, although I bet it's never been tested on ratties
