Re: Coat quality has become poor

Re: Coat quality has become poor

Oh also, she has red ticks throughout her white, is this porphyrin from grooming? Thank you x Do you mean ticks on the fur, or red things on her skin? Just because lice are small red things - and can cause coats to look awful! (you can get them from bedding, and all sorts of places, isn't a slur on...

Re: The importance of staggering ages

I'm not looking forwards to this time next year. I will lose a lot in a short space of time. (however, i am prepared for that - i knew it would be the case when i began breeding)

Re: Turning a dog crate into a ratty home...

The XL/ furet plus are suitabe for rats from the age the sexes are split - it's a lot narrower than an inch. If you can cope with mesh then sounds like a plan though :) Are you sure? I would have never put kittens in my old furet tower, and i know that the old-style furet plus have got the same siz...

I have been toying with the idea of having a 'downstairs' group for a while... Seeing as my dad has just let me move a random human in, i can't see him arguing w...

I use sharpie marker pens! I marked a group of 12 identical black topears with sharpies, and they are all still marked now, 3 months later.

Re: Bit of an awkward one ( Skin tag on privates )

It probably is just that, a skin tag. I've had a few rats with them (usually on their ears, admittedly!) I'd keep an eye on it, but if is a skin tag - it will just drop off in it's own time!

Re: viral menengitis

Antibiotics will be useless if it is a virus i'm afraid.
I would also avoid steroids personally, as this can speed up infections. Can your vet send some CSF off for cultures and PCR?
I'm so sorry you are having to go through this :(
