Re: Emergency rat plans

We're keeping the carriers and the spare cage by the existing cages. I only have 2 carriers at the moment (and 2 hamsters 2 rats) but we have the tiny cage Tiff came in which will do in an emergency. We live above a small private betting shop and Gloucester was rioted last night and there is suppos...

Re: Emergency rat plans

I always have carriers by cages in case of emergency but have worried about getting them out on my own as it would be 4/5 carriers (including my cat). Catching Willow (cat) would be my biggest problem as I have no idea how she'd react.

Re: handy medicines

Hi.

If you look here at the bottom the the page is a link to rat respiratory guide, one for you and a version for the vet. Might help you if you want to find other treatments for your guys.

Sorry I don't have any advice on over the counter drugs though.

Don't worry it's not too bad to put together as long as there are at least 2 of you. So worth it, I love mine :D

Re: Please help

With nervous newbies I also tend to get them out in a box or something so they don't have to be grabbed till they are more used to me. I still do this a lot with one of my rescue boys with extremely poor eyesite although I can now pick him up without him biting. :D It probably sounds daft but I have...

Tardak info

Hi. I'm looking into Tardak and will be speaking to my vet but think it's best to consult the experts on here too :D
I've got the doses from the NFRS handbook but does anyone know how long can it be used for and what are the possible side effects?
Many thanks

Re: Nebuliser - Bit of a long shot!

Hope it helps Cookie. I found my boys freaked out a bit until I put the cube in there, they wanted somewhere to hide.

Good luck

Re: Collecting urine samples

I put them in a carrier too and have the test strips so I can test straight away. Cheaper than doing it at the vets too. :D

Re: Nebuliser - Bit of a long shot!

I use my nebuliser regularly for my poorly boy. I've connected it to a enclosed hamster cage, put a t towel over some of the top and use old flannels to cover the holes on the nebuliser so the air goes into the cage (not included in picture as you wouldn't see the nebuliser). There is a cube inside ...

Thanks my first thought was his heart. Unfortunately he went downhill overnight even with regular fluids and we let him go the next day. Sorry should have updated the thread.

Re: implant?

Sounds interesting but I would want to know more about the long term health risks of the implant before I considered it.
