Wow that's a lot of rust! Looks like it'll be a big job :) I'm sure you'll have motivation to do it since you've wanted one for so long.

Re: Cannibalism

Ears and face may be somebody trying to 'wake' her as I've seen rats doing it when shown a dead body. When it couldn't be done that was properly when they thought to dispose of her. It may have been the time of day, how long she was there or where she was and it's not going to make them more likely ...

Re: Cage for 8-10

The furet plus has a detachable roof so is easier to mod than the Jenny but removing the roof of a jenny and placing it on top of another shouldn't be to difficult and if you kept the roof you could always separate them again using cable ties to hold everything together.you can also (if not wanting ...

Re: Rate That Layout!

9/10 Pros: I love the vertical climbing and the thicker base for substrate. The cargo net looks like a lot of fun as well as doubling as a 'catcher' in case anyone falls. Cons: The three ladders, I feel that three is too much for such young girls, at first I thought you had an oldie in and needed an...

Re: Girly scrapping...

Sounds fine to me...... maybe someone will have some 'advice' but you can't change a rats personality . If there is no blood and they sleep together it sounds like a happy group to me.

Don't panic, straights is usually a little denser nutritionally so they don't need as much. Reduce the amount of food in the cage day by day and see how they do.

Re: How to put one rat on a diet in a group?!

Do you scatter feed? This is a good way to make sure that one rat can't hog food. If you already scatter feed try taking him out for the first ten minutes or even reducing the overall amount of food in the cage.

Re: tilts?

Most tilts are caused by an infection ie myco in the ear damaging the drum/balance of the rat and after the initial treatment has been done leaving a visible 'scar' if you like. Others can be cause by brain tumours. Rats can pass on some causes of a tilt ie resp infection but they cannot pass on the...

Re: URGENT severe respiratory issues/ not eating/ unhelpful vet

Do you have any bisolven to help clear the fluid from her lungs? Yep, I can steal dridh's. Can it be syringed in if I make it into a solution? Anyway you can get it into her, go for it. which Lunite managed to combat with baytril injections ( not the best I know) doxy and bisolven. I know the worst...

Re: URGENT severe respiratory issues/ not eating/ unhelpful vet

Do you have any bisolven to help clear the fluid from her lungs? It sounds like pneumonia which Lunite managed to combat with baytril injections ( not the best I know) doxy and bisolven. I know the worst thing for me was getting Lu to eat meds when she could barely breathe. In the end she had everyt...
