Re: Feeding live insects?

I always have a selection of crickets in the house for the tarantulas, but Id never thought of giving them to the rats. I imagine its a quicker death for them being eaten by rats rather than the Ts. And it would save the crickets going to waste, I have about 3 sizes of cricket and only 6 tarantulas ...

Re: good vet in Leicester

My only issue with Craig is that he didnt seem to know much about SDA. I went in and asked if my girl had it and he said all rats have it all the time. I used to use Borrajos in Birstall but they have gone downhill since they were taken over by Medivet. Some of the vets dont seem to care about the a...

Re: Brother Bonding.

Oh I see... told you I hadnt read it properly! Maybe just leave them to it for a couple of weeks. I just saw it was only Tuesday he was castrated. I dont know what you can do in the meantime to help them bond.. I think Alfa's hormones will be around for a few weeks yet, so maybe when he feels more c...

Re: Brother Bonding.

Forgive me if Ive not read your post properly, but my attention span is quite short sometimes! Why are you not handling Alfa? I dont know if freeranging might be a good idea, just treat them normally and they might accept this is what life is rather than confusing them with different things. I would...

Re: Girl left loose in the rat room, here come the boys!

I hope your girl isnt pregnant. Could you tell if she was in season when you free ranged her? Also (bit late now), if you had looked at her bits when you caught her, you can usually tell if they have been mated. Dont worry about it, accidents happen, worrying wont make a possible pregnancy go away. ...

Re: Rats and cats

My rats are housed in our living room, and the cats have free run of the downstairs. As our downstairs is pretty much open plan, they all spend lots of time in the same room. Ive never had a problem with nervous rats whilst in their cage, and quite often Bob cat will sit by the cage watching the rat...

Re: Breeding plans - varieties

Im obviously doing something right then, my chosen variety have such lovely temperament as well. If you are breeding a variety you want to, like others have said, make it one you love. But start with rats who have the temperament, but in all honesty if you are getting your rats from a reputable bree...

Re: Finacard in the Leicester area?

I use Borajos in Birstall. Im not sure about Chine House, yes the chap there is an exotics expert, but Ive never felt "right" about him. I took 2 bucks in with breathing problems (I was convinced it wasnt SDAv) but asked him to check and he said it could be probably, he sees it all the time. I said ...
