Re: Wilkinsons -_-''

The general rule seems to be that if you have pet shop rats or rescues (no doubt they will have come from a pet shop or back yard breeder) then shavings and other wood based litters shouldn't be used. My pet shoppies, rescues, snake foodies, breeder rats and home bred babies cope fine on shavings (...

Re: Classroom pets?

As hlcasey says; you will probably find that some rats just wouldn't like it full stop where others would perhaps thrive on the attention. This is certainly the case - some absolutely love to go to work and some just can't be bothered, some don't like the extra attention and some are too "boring" L...

Re: Classroom pets?

I am a teacher and I regularly take rats into school - most days I have a couple of rats (and a dog) in my room .... I bring in my own rats from home - not always the same ones although I have a few who are just ideally suited for the role - they have a large carrier to be in when it's sleepy time, ...

I am sure they will be fine - what's your concern?

Re: Torn Rectum (graphic description and pics)

I'm sorry to hear that :( did he heal up? (hope you don't mind me asking) No I did lose him but he had ongoing other health issues too :( As with your lad - he was not particularly bothered by this ailment although I was horrified. My boy was well over 2 years old with a ZGT at the same time - so a...

Re: Not sure about a wheel

I would suggest a large Wodent wheel - it is the sort that wheel newbies are most likely to use - most of mine love using a wheel :)

Re: Recommend a vet in Manchester please!

Companion Care vets based at the PAH in Stockport are EXCELLENT and have some very rat experienced vets (they are NOT linked to PAH at all just share the buildings)
The prices are very reasonable and all the staff are lovely and they genuinely like rats - the reception staff adore them :)
