Re: Baytril Wanted

Your vet will have experience deaing with infectious conditions, and with pet rats being relatively rare it is a lot easier to deal with then a dog or cat etc. You need to call them and explain and ask how they recommend you deal with it.

Re: Finacard in the Leicester area?

Slightly off topic but which vet do you use in Leicester and are they any good? Up until I moved (about 6 months ago) I used Bell Brown & Bentley on the hinkley road, who were always very good & willing to wok with us to find the right treatment. Chine house in Sileby though is the main exotics spe...

Re: Coffee colored rat?

I just wish Mary would stop posting pics until she has baked some ratties for me. Her pictures aways make me want to drive straight down to cambridge & sit on her door step until she gives me some cuties! (ha just realised that could read as gives me cooties)

Re: Buff and British Blue Dumbos

Your best chance is probably to contact as many breeders as possible, explain to them what you're looking for and be prepared to wait a long time, and take on the specific rats you want when they're offered. There are occasionally things crop up that breeders aren't expecting. You would also probabl...

Re: Really need some reassurance please!

I'm really lucky to have sarah @ holly house as my main vet. If I were you I would speak to your vet and tell them that you hacve been recommended to a rat speciallist in Leeds who is used to dealing with unusual situations, and would they be able to refer you. Sarah will try anything she can to kee...

Re: really need some thoughts... bad thing

If it were me I would take a two pronged apporach. I would speak to my vet about the possibility of putting her under to have the tumour removed, with the proviso that if the p didn't go well, or there were issues, that she would be pts. For me, If I was at the point where PTS was an option, I would...

Re: really strange

if this is something you've only seen once and other than that he seems fine and is using that leg, I would be tempted to put it down to something really simple like pins & needles or cramp (no reason for animals not to get either of those). The fighting just seems like normal squabbles, so unless t...

Do elderly rats age faster in same age groups?

We have a very definite split in ages in he cage at the meoment, we have a 28mth old with ongoing pneumonia and slight HLD & 3x 24mth old (one with a suspected PT). They're in an aviary right now, and I'm sure they would appriciate the larger loor space and easier climbing of the freddy (horizontal ...

Yay, I'm so glad that you got to the bottom of the problem, and can enjoy having your ratties again. What a relief it must be for you!

Re: advertising rats safely

The problem with preloved isn't that it's a bad place to advertise rats, it's that the majority of the people who advertise there are bad. This means that there are two things that can happen, either all of the good breeders don't advertise there because they don't want to be associated with the bad...

Re: RSCPA Rescue + Intro's

It's worth baring in mind that some fighting is inevitable, and to some extent you are just going to have to let them get on with it. Realistically you shouldn't intervene unless someone gets hurt. It's really hard to see I know, but it is the only way they're going to sort out the hrirarchy.

I didnt mean to say she would be upset, just that she might be - she'd probably be fine with it - but I dont want to be told off for bringing her pics to peoples interest on here if she isn't! No worries, if there are any problems I'm happy for the link to be removed. Also if that's the case ...

Wow, Then I'm sorry I have never come across anyone being upset at a link being pointed at something that is publicly available online before. I would strongly recommend that anyone who feels that strongly about it step up the security around their images, as anything linke that on the internet is, ...
