Re: Urgent - skin stripped away from tail

I'll definitely get it done, its just the cost of lots of things seems to vary a lot between vets :-? I don't mind paying it though - I've paid more than that for my emergency appointment tonight! Selma still has the stitches in and is doing fine Can I ask, have you kept her separate since the op? I...

Re: Urgent - skin stripped away from tail

OK, thanks - I'll put him in a separate cage for tonight then. I've been quoted £80 for the amputation though :-?

Re: Urgent - skin stripped away from tail

Sorry, double post, I'm having computer issues. Also, can I change the topic title myself or do I need a mod to do this? Just to remove the "urgent" bit now I've calmed down slightly! Mod note: "Urgent" removed for you :) Editing subjects isn't something we do as standard but yes, we'll generally re...

Degloving

Thanks for your replies and concern. He has been to the emergency vet now and had baytril and metacam injected. They have given me two options: 1) Leave it and see if it heals (with course of ABs) 2) Take him in tomorrow to have the tip amputated I'm leaning towards having the op straight away as if...

Skin stripped away from tail

Could someone please give me some urgent advice as to whether I need an emergency vet tonight? I've accidentally stepped on one of my rats tails, and them pulling away from it has obviously stripped the skin right off the end of the tail. There's a couple of centrimetres where it just looks like bon...

Re: Telling off a deaf rat?

I sometimes think Bandit might be a bit deaf (she's the only one that doesn't come when called), but unfortunately I think the problem is just that she's not too bright!

And if I tell mine off, they just look thrilled at the extra attention!

Re: mosquitos ARGH!

I think you can buy mosquito nets from Boots or similar - you could try draping it across the window. I'm sure some might still manage to find their way around it, but it might keep out most of them?

Re: Kitty is limping :(

I don't know if there is any difference between the stuff you have for your dog or not (whether it is a different concentration). I'm feeling a bit stupid now - I'm sure there will be different strengths! Anyway I just restricted her running around yesterday, and today she is putting weight on it a...

Re: Kitty is limping :(

My rat also started limping yesterday, and this morning she is holding her whole foot off the ground if possible. Sorry - this doesn't help you Nathalie, but I thought as its the same topic, might as well keep all the posts together. I'll take her to the vet next week if she's no better, but I was j...

Rat sitting in Newcastle area

Hi, I know there are people in my area on the official rat sitters list, but I was wondering if there was anyone in the area who would be interested in some kind of reciprocal arrangement - you look after mine and I'll look after yours! I don't go away that often, but occasionally find out last minu...
