Just a hammock is fine. I wouldn't put in anything they can "hole up" in - eg cardboard boxes, igloos etc.

Kittens normally moult around 11 weeks old. I expect they're just looking scruffy prior to them getting their adult coat.

Just felt I wanted to add to this that although I prefer the stainless, they were almost twice the price. The galvanised ones will definitely "do"! :lol:

All mine are 8cm high too because of that hinge! :lol: But if they're going to be made 89.5 instead of 90cm wide, they'll probably just about slide in still. I'd like them a little higher too, but 15cm would feel too high to me - I'd like to be able to see the rats! Maybe 12cm to compromise?? :lol: ...

They are most often black in the UK - but they can also be a dark grey (steel) or agouti.

There is one very helpful breeder on here "secretpennell". Apart from that im at a bit if a loss really. I'm glad you think so Stuart, but the rats we originally spoke about are rescues.
