Re: Help for rat with PT, diabetes & urine infection.

Well it could be the steroids or the PT causing the diabetes, or I suppose he could've been going to develop it anyway? First I'm going to try out the diabetic diet for a week or two before deciding if we need to go for the insulin. And keep up with the steroids, but try and get him some galastop to...

Re: Alpha herbal replacement for diabetic mix?

Well for now I've made it up using the No8 Complete No Garlic - Elderly Kidney Friendly Rat Rations stuff I had in my cupboard. I wonder if the Xtra Vital Rat mix that they sell would be good?

I couldn't spot any food mixes on there saying suitable for diabetics.

Re: Would this Blue have clotting issues?

Ah - I know this rat! Hello Libby - I hope you feel better soon. Libby says hello rescue/foster Mummy :D :hearts: So when she goes in on Monday, it's ok for the vet to try and get a sample from her tail, but I'll stress not to use the jugular if the tail doesn't work? Cause it'd be difficult to sto...

Re: Plymouth-London home swap

Thank you for the replies, really helpful. Yeah she has had her urine tested - numerous dip tests and a sample sent to the lab. And a scan. But she's still not responding to treatment, so vet is planning on giving her a whiff of gas to get some blood and do an x ray. ETA she's a rescue so no idea of...

Would this Blue have clotting issues?

http://i457.photobucket.com/albums/qq297/Fuschia_photos/093-1.jpg I'm not clued up on types of blue rat, but Libby has a urine infection and is passing a lot of blood. Was wondering if her colour might be in any way involved, and also my vet would like to take a blood sample from her tail, would th...

Alpha herbal replacement for diabetic mix?

I'm planning on putting together the Diabetic food mix, but any ideas what to use instead of the Alpha Herbal?

What to do next re urine infection?

Libby has been getting treatment for a urine infection for over a month now, but she still has blood in her urine. She had a couple of weeks on baytril and now has been on synulox for around 3 weeks. She had a sample sent to the lab a few weeks ago, I remember the vet saying e. coli was in there and...

Help for rat with PT, diabetes & urine infection.

Hi, I'm hoping someone might have some helpful advice for me to pass on to my vet. My boy Rueben was diagnosed with a PT recently and is on baytril and Prednisolone so far. Today I took a urine sample to the vet and she says he's now got diabetes and a urine infection too :( . She suggested stopping...

Re: Liberta Viking?

I haven't used one, but it looks lovely and tall, and the bar spacing is fine. Can't see what the access is like in that pic, but if you're getting a good deal I'd go for it :luck:

Re: Has any one had any experience with this cage?

It's certainly a heck of a lot better than the Haven cage!

Have you checked on ebay? I got mine for £50, I only use it as a spare now, but sorry I'm not selling it

Re: Has any one had any experience with this cage?

It's a nice enough cage, I got one second hand a few years back. I wouldn't have bought it for that price as like Hanlou says you can get better ones for that amount. And substrate does get kicked out easily, and the floor space isn't great. But on the plus side the access is good, there's climbing ...

Re: Plastic Corner Shelves - Design Flaws & Suggestions

It would be good to be able to hang things from the shelf, either at the edge, or from the underside. I always found the underside of ferplast shelves unusual, lots of squares etc for structure, if there were holes in those areas you could clip things to the middle. Hanging points – These would be ...

Re: Plastic Corner Shelves - Design Flaws & Suggestions

:D This is all very exciting! Sorry if I've missed anything but on the first page I think you said it's a shame you can't do a survey or something? I'm sure there's a way of doing poll type things on here if you'd like to do one for colours or anything else. I've never done one but I bet somebody co...
