Re: Ferplast Furet Plus - Spare Pieces & Bar Spacing

I can't help with the first question... but to numpty seller on Ebay!!! I have the Furet Plus, and wouldn't expect any youngsters to be able to squeaze through the bars - I've got 2 small middle-aged girls in it at the moment, but wouldn't think twice about putting in babies. (One of the girls I hav...

Re: Ferplast Cage advice please.

Maybe email ferplast, or companies that sell the cage and see if they have any replacements they can send you. I know they have replacement bases and stuff.....might be worth a go?! Or, try ebay? You could ask on the wanted section on the market place on here too, someone might have a rusted aviary ...

Re: a cage challenge

The Furet Plus is fine for small does/babies. The bars are a little wider than on the usual cages (Jenny, brio's etc) but not wide enough to cause a problem. :D

It's also a lovely cage, me and my 2 girls love it :hearts:

Re: Brio/Duetto

I love all the ferplast aviaries. I've had the Mini, Medium and Duetto. :hearts:

They were all fantastic cages, a dream to clean and furnish and if I ever go back to keeping more than a few rats in a cage at a time I will definately be going back to them as opposed to the Explorer or alternative.

Re: Amelia isnt well :(

Sounds to me like she choked on something. They usually "retch" aswell, and look like a cat does when they're about to be sick. But she may have been retching and then cleared whatever it was, which is why you didn't see it. Whenever I've had a rat that choked they acted really quiet for a...

Re: Hypothetical Question

My boys were in one half of a duetto, and are now in a rabbit cage. (Rabbit 100 I believe). Which for them, because they are the definition of lazy, is fine.

My 2 girls are currently in a Furet Plus. I would happily put my boys in the Furet if I had to. :D

Re: Hypothetical Question

I've had 3 girls in a Jenny with no problems. Everyone's right, the girls should have the bigger cage, just because they are usually the more lively, but it does depends on the rats. You might find your boys stay hyper throughout their lives, and the girls settle down alot. It also depends how the c...

It's the original Freddy. As far as I know, when they brought out the Freddy 2, they changed the wire shelves to a plastic one, and centralised the door.

Re: can rats catch human colds?

Nope, ratties cannot catch the human cold :)

If your rats don't seem "right" it won't be down to your cold, keep an eye on them and get them down the vets if you're worried :luck:

Re: Obese??

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I also do the tidy up time the evening before clean out, so they get no fresh food that night, and have to find other bits they've stashed. I'll cut down on the Pasta in the shunamite and see if that helps. :)
