Re: freddy or ferret plus

Furet all the way!! I road tested a Freddy, and despised it with a passion. I gave it back after 2 weeks. Cleaning it was a nightmare, the door on the front was just not big enough to do anything in. And the lack of top door wound me up alot  Some people love them though! I went and brought th...

Obese??

All of my 3 lads weigh around 800g, but one of them is noticebly larger than the other 2. Despite them all just eating their shunamite diet (I half fill 2 small coop cups each day). In it is just the rabbit food, pasta, dog kibble and cereal. They also occasionly get fresh veggies, and a small jar o...

I think with lots of shelves and hammocks the height shouldn't be a problem. It won't be no taller than the aviaries that are around. :D

Re: Any cage set up pics for head tilty rat :o)

I usually find that they adapt to the environment they were already in. :D One of my girls got a head tilt, and lived in an aviary quite happy. I already had it set so there were no long drops etc, but I do this with all tall cages. If your friends rat is already happy in a cage, I would just leave ...

Re: Cages - your opinions please!

Has thr abode not got wider bar spacing?? I was looking at it but decided on the Furet because the current rats might not escape but any babies in the future might!!!

I personally feel the access is better on the Furet too.

Re: Cages - your opinions please!

Out of the Freddy and Furet, the Furet wins hands down. The access on the Freddy did my head in!!! With the Furet plus you get the whole top that opens aswell as the big front door. I borrowed the Freddy to "road test" and hated it (although I know some people love them!) I gave it back, then went a...

Brown? They both look black to me.

The one with the white line down his tummy will be a Black Berkshire and the other is a Black Hooded. :hearts: :hearts: :hearts:

Re: Show us your rat rooms....

Since moving into a 2 bedroom flat the rats have had their own room!! I love it, it's so much easier to have all their bits in one place instead of traipsing bales of cardboard through rooms etc. The door: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v174/rattylover0099/ratsandgirlynight054.jpg View from the d...

Berkshire is the white belly. :D The rat in the 3 last pictures is an Agouti Berkshire.

And yes, Mink is a warm even browny colour. Gorgeous :D

Re: Why a duetto or an explorer?

I love the aviaries (duetto's) as opposed to any cage with a pull off shell because of the pull out trays. I'm only 5 ft 1 (and tiny!) but even cleaning a small Jenny out annoyed me because the shell was so heavy to lift off sometimes. I've recently sold my Duetto :( and brought a furet plus, I love...

Re: Minks and Berkshires

Mink is the colour and Berkshire is the marking....so theoretically you could get a Mink Berkshire ;) This is Mink: (3 different rats! - 2 Hoodeds and 1 vari) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v174/rattylover0099/New%20girls/Friday16thFeb2007008.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v174/rattylover0...

I use this too! Huge bale of it is so so cheap! (Plus it's stocked at a local equine farm place just 10 minutes away from me!) :D

Looks black to me! :D

And most black rats are very rarely pure black, but it doesn't make them any less a black rat. :D
