Re: Swollen snout - URGENT REPLIES PLEASE

Poor Rookie :( Is he tempted by anything atm? Honey water was good for tempting poorly poorly rats in the past, the sugar might help perk him up a bit? Hot chocolate has also worked... I'm so sorry he's still feeling unwell, but you're doing your very best for him. A hot (warm) water bottle may help...

Re: Swollen snout - URGENT REPLIES PLEASE

Don't panic Will! Just to add that the only time I've seen a swollen muzzle on a rat was when Glenda got hers bitten by Thirteen. It was a proper fat lip - the same as Sian's Poot. Get well soon Rookie, I'm looking forward to them all coming to stay next month :luck:

Re: bitten/swollen urethra. with photo

Has he peed yet? If he is peeing then that's a good sign - I'd treat with baytril (and metacam) until you can get him to the vets for a check-up. If he's not peeing then I'm not sure... When Norman was attacked by Thirteen there was a lot of damage quite close to his bits :o I tried putting him in t...

Re: 3 level explorer - how does it work?

I think I've got it all mapped out in my head now  , seems simple enough - all I have to do is swap the back panels of the existing 2 levels (bottom to top and top to bottom) and then fitting on the top (third) level should be self evident :-? !!! I'm actually getting very excited at the idea o...

Re: 3 level explorer - how does it work?

Ooh, I think I get what you all mean :-? I'll have to have a scribble I think (helps if I can see things outside my head  iykwim?!). Thanks all x

I'd forgotten how lovely it was...

... to have a proper free range as opposed to playtime in the play pen! it's just amazing - trying to type while being alternately groomed, boggled at, nudged, chewed etc is hsrd, but so worth it. I haven't done this in ages, but the difference it's having in the rats is huge - even shy, shy Foxy ha...

Re: 3 level explorer - how does it work?

Stormsmuggler had one.... but I think she had problems with it being dangerous to get to the third level and suchlike - I think she nearly decapitated herself in doing so  I'm sure she'll come along and say her experiences soon =] x I saw hers in one of the old threads, it looked great but ve...

3 level explorer - how does it work?

I've been reading the previous threads about 3 storey/level explorers and am sending myself batty trying to work out how you get the third level in/on! I'd love to be able to give my lot a bit more room (and maybe squeeze in a couple more rats... ) - but I don't want to have to wire levels to...

NB - Longer measurement of "hole" is from front to back - and most people position it in back right corner. x

Re: I need a moan... hormonal rat

Thanks! The 14 are a great group together :hearts: Madam tried to bite me this morning :o bit worrying... I let her out every morning for a run around while I do the morning medicating in the big group. While picking her up she tried to bite and hang on. Again though she was fine out of the cage - I...

Re: I need a moan... hormonal rat

Just in case anyone is keeping tabs on madam Thirteen's escapades   we're planning to try something different with her, once my parent's get back from holiday... as what is becoming increasingly clear with her is that she is not a fan of other rats (she nearly shook the Freddy off it's st...
