Re: Flat-packable holiday cages

The Furet Plus flat packs, and is suitable for up to 4 rats as a holiday cage :)

Re: first time rat mix advice

I think the rat rations mix is suitable for adult rats, so you can feed that and supplement the babies with high protein meals such as scrammbled eggs.

Re: Does such a cage exist?

You could buy a new Jenny and modify the old one so it has a door on the front, then attach it to the top of the new cage so you have a Jenny tower

Re: Frost has hurt her hand :(

Frost is 100% back to normal. She was out for an hour and a half last nigh and didn't take a lame step once. I also caught her on top of the shelves, so she is climbing well

Re: big fat* boys

Breeder rats are often much bigger then rescue or pet shop rats because they come from better lines, and are fed correctly in their first weeks of life. It's not always the case though. My breeder girl is smaller then my 2 older rescues

Re: vegan rat food

Babies need sufficient protein, it doesn't matter which form that comes in. It matters massively where protien comes from for babies and the very young as it needs to both be easily digestable and complete, which i think you keep missing out, if you have an answer for the completeness and for findi...

Re: antibiotics

Nix was on baytril for over 5 weeks for an ear infection. They need a high dose for quite a while to clear them up properly.

Re: vegan rat food

I'm sure wild rats DO get respiatory infections and tumors, but they don't live long enough after developing the condition for us to see them. And as for old age illnesses such as CHF, a wild rat is lucky if it reaches 12 months, so you probably would never see a wild rat suffering from it as they'...

Re: Could someone please recommend a cage for 2 rats

I like the Liberta Abode for a small group. I used to only have 2 girls, and they loved all the space in it. I now have 4 girls in it and it's still a nice size for them all.

Re: Frost has hurt her hand :(

Frost is walking much better today. Her foot is still very swollen, but she's putting weight on that leg instead of hopping about on 3 legs.

She's eating. I was giving her yogurt drops and she was hoovering them up :D

Mum has told me to give her Arnica to help with the swelling.

Poor old Frost. She's looking like she's been in a war at the moment :(

The others couldn't live without their igloo.
