Treating a resp infection after choking

OK I might be 'over thinking' this a little but recent months have turned me into a worrier :-? Iris choked a few nights ago so I've been monitoring her closely since due to the risk of resp infection following choking episodes. I was just giving her bisolvon but a couple of says ago started baytril...

Re: bleeding from urethra

I'm not an expert on these sorts of problems so hopefully someone with more experience will come along. But first of all I think it's worth checking to be sure if it's coming from her urethra or vagina. If it's 100% definitely urine then it could be due to a UTI or kidney infection or if it's vagina...

Re: Tag - pigeon noise? Start of resp problems?

I'd go for 0.2ml baytril twice a day and if you can get bisolvon then just a pinch of that mixed in with each dose of baytril :luck:

Re: Tag - pigeon noise? Start of resp problems?

I guess it's a choice between cautious use of antibiotics to reduce the risk of resistance vs hitting any infection early. If it were me I think I'd give a course of baytril and monitor. If you have bisolvon sometimes just giving some of that can be enough to clear it if it's just secretions. Hope t...

Re: When is enough enough?

As you say, only you can decide ultimately when you think they have had enough. All I can offer if my experience with Martha which sounds very similar to yours. When she was 17 months old she had 2 very severe resp infections in the space of about 6-8 weeks. She'd never had issues before and luckily...

Re: Severe resp infection/facial abscess

Poor wee lady :( I have sometimes found that steam makes them panic more than anything tbh although I've only ever tried the steamy bathroom thing rather than an actual nebuliser.
It's so difficult when you want to keep fighting but know that it might not be the best thing.

Re: The big taste test..

*emigrates to Australia* I suspect there are many more creepy crawly things in Australia than the UK - so probably a higher chance of one accidently ending up in your food.... *nods furiously* Spiders the size of a grown man's hand, in your potatoes... yum. *crosses Australia off holiday list* :o

Re: The big taste test..

I love the smell of SeniorAid. Apparently this makes me a very strange person.. but I think it smells lovely! I have never considered tasting it though... Do it!!! for the sake of forum knowledge, taste it!! :D I tried it.. in the interest of science, obviously. Tastes like nothing on earth, truly ...
