Lightweight girls not eating much :s

I've recently got my ratty weight chart up to date, and I'm a little bit worried for Serenity, she seems really scrawny lately. She's only 270-275g bless her and she's 1yr7months. Even Trinity who's just 1yr this month weighs a little more at 280g. Maybe I'm just being silly, its just all the other ...

Re: Polite rats taking food nicely

Maybe try giving them the treat on the end of a small spoon?

Re: Carrier - mesh size?

They might get their heads stuck, or shoulders. So the mesh is quite large? I can't really see you having to take all 9 to the vets at the same time to be honest. I've had 8 in one for a trip from Liverpool to Warrington when we had that awful weather last winter and it was about -10 so put them al...

Re: Moving house tomorrow!

Got into Seascale for 6pm, after setting off at 11.30, but we did have to detour through Kendal to drop off my Aurora cage and pick up the money for that... which went straight to Ferris as my half of the van hire and petrol costs.... Got the rats immediately set up in my bedroom, they did very well...

Re: Moving house tomorrow!

If they are allowed a long run round tonight and in the morning I dont see why not. Out of interest, how do you attatch a bottle to your cabrio? I keep trying and failing so when the boys are travelling they ahve to ahve that silly bowl of water! I use strips of fleece or string and have one loop h...

Moving house tomorrow!

The big move is tomorrow, and just taking a break from moving boxes downstairs. My housemate suggested I just pack up the cages now and put the rats in carriers overnight, which would make things quicker for the morning, but would that be fair to have them cooped up that long? :S Its a 4-5 hour driv...

Re: Rats hate eachother :( HELP!!!!!

I take no offence, i am abit over protective lol. So i leave them in the carrier for a few days? how many could you say? is a normal rat pet carrier ok? (this seems too small) thanks for your help :) If Mort hasn't attacked Bean, then i think you may be over-reacting (no offence). What you need to ...

I'm concerned these rescues are not taking enough fluids, they are eating ok, and some wetter foods but I still think they should be drinking more! Any ideas?

Change from 1 mix to 2 seperate ones...

I've been thinking of changing to having 2 separate mixes, one for my girls, one for my boys. I use Flakes and Grains No2 from Ratrations.com as a base and plan to use this for both mixes as both groups are a year old or older now. For the girls i'm planning to use 7 x Base mix 3 x Cereal (Cornflake...

Re: wat foods

Egg biscuit is a good source of protein, as well as things like nuts, dog kibble (a good quality one like james well beloved or ratrations.com sell Burns chicken and brown rice kibble), and you can also get dried insects off ratrations.com http://www.ratrations.com/dried-insects-and-fish-products-c-...

Sounds like he's definitely full of hormones, good luck with the castration! Hope it calms him down.

Re: My rats got the sudden 'urge'

humping is a way of showing domination to other rats, its not always sexual. Both boy rats and girl rats can show this behaviour, strangely my girls do more humping than my boys when it came to introductions

Re: rat not right in the head?

From the sounds of it, I think a castration would definitely help, if he's got hormones pumping through his body it'll make him not want to submit even if he wants to be at the bottom of the hierarchy.

Re: Help - Housemate's rat attacking other rats

I would definitely be getting the aggressor neutered. How deep are the wounds? I'd keep a close eye on Thundercrackers wound, given the location it could have complications. They look fairly shallow thank god, more of a surface tear. Will keep a close eye on both of them whilst I'm still around. Po...
