Re: Help - Housemate's rat attacking other rats

Got some photos of the damage; Thundercrackers back end last night http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn10/WerepuppyPhotos/DSCF6325.jpg and Skywarp's head scar this morning http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn10/WerepuppyPhotos/DSCF6329.jpg Already hibiscrubbed Thunder last night, going to sort out...

Help - Housemate's rat attacking other rats

I'm currently rat-sitting for my housemates lot whilst she's visiting Caisu, and of course everything has to kick off when she's not here... I think its Sephiroth (conveniently named) attacking the others. Last night I thought it was just Thundercracker as he had his balls badly bitten and his tail ...

Re: what color for this kitten?

I would lean towards agouti or maybe agouti-blue? Its hard to tell when they're that young, I'm used to identifying when they're a lot older :)

Re: Rat-friendly vets around Cumbria

I'm afraid that doesn't help much, there's only 2 entries for north of England and they're no where near. :(

Rat-friendly vets around Cumbria

As I'm moving back to my mum's I'm going to need to find a decent vet near her. She lives in Seascale, near Whitehaven. I know one vet in Gosforth but when my girl rats got mites for the first time the vets there didn't know what it was, I'm a lot more educated with health problems so for most part ...

Re: bath a rat

I only bath mine when they get something nasty in their fur or if they're marinated themselves in pee and got themselves particularly stinky.
Generally it seems to happen every 2 months or so.

Lackis wrote:That sounds like good news! Hopefully it'll resolve itself ok. When mine had abscesses I was given Baytril and I've had no reoccurances but I don't know if there's a better one to use.
Marbocyl is very similar to baytril, my vets always use it.

Re: Tumour or Abcess?

Update: Just checked the lump this morning and got 2 little brown spots appearing on the surface. I was almost panicking yesterday thinking it could be a tumor or it could be an abscess that was going to burst inwards :( Hopefully it'll pop properly over the next few days, and I'll talk with Caisu a...

Re: Tumour or Abcess?

I think if its not showing signs of popping by next Saturday (i got a post-op check booked for possum), I'll take him down at the same time. I have hibiscrub on standby and been applying warm salt water to the area to help it to pop early. Of course I'll keep a close eye on him and if he deteriorate...

Tumour or Abcess?

One of our foster rats (Caisu's rats) has a large lump suddenly appear overnight between his ear and shoulder. Its quite hard to the touch and doesn't move around under the skin, and no signs of any bites that might have set off an abcess. I'm worried that it could potentially be a tumour that is at...

Re: odd behaviour?

My little Daisy (9 weeks old) had been in with my 3 males because i was sold her as a male.. :( Anyway, she is in her own lovely cage now and has settled in well. However, whenever i give her food from hand, or treats, she always takes them behind her litter tray, doesn't eat them, and then comes b...

Quick use for toilet rolls

This just came to my mind this morning as a good way to reuse toilet rolls. Simply take a couple toilet rolls, and a chain or rope and thread the loo rolls on, then hang in the cage to provide amusement for the rats! Got one in my girls cage and one in my boys cage :) http://i300.photobucket.com/alb...

Davison Vets, they're very nice and always talk through options politely without a 'im a vet i know what im doing' attitude.

Re: Possum booked for Lumpescomy...

Aw, I'm glad she's ok! I paid £95 for one of mine to have a small lump removed from her shoulder on Monday - well worth the money though, especially as my vet said it looked quite sinister when he was operating. Here's hoping she leaves her stitches alone! She's very laid back and docile so should ...
