Re: Can I leave my ratties?

If I feed my rats well one afternoon I'm fine leaving them for one night, I have left them for two as they have a good sized water bottle but I wouldn't make a habit of it

Re: What do I do now?

Have you looked at the rehoming board on here? Or you could try rescues near you.

Re: What do I do now?

If you don't want babies you have a few options: 1) rehome Izzy. 2) Adopt a rat of a similiar age to keep her company 3) try and find a rat to foster to keep her company

Since I doubt you'd want to rehome her I'd definitely recommend finding a girl of a similiar age as a companion.

Re: Complete Mix from Rat rations

Would it be ok for younger rats (12 weeks+) provided the younger ones get high protein treats?

Re: Abode bar spacing

People keep telling me to get an explorer, I'd love one but unfortunately the OH say no as its 1) his house too and 2) his money too. Its enough that he's agreed to let me have 2 or 3 more rats! I also like the look of the Freddy 3, the Aurora 450 and the Jenny KD although I think the Jenny would be...

Re: Abode bar spacing

I have a critter 2 at the moment, i hate it cos its rusty and smelly because its difficult to get completely clean but I suppose I could keep the babies in there for a few weeks, and the big boys could go straight onto the abode til intros are done. Would they be ok in an abode by around 12 weeks? O...

Abode bar spacing

I'm hopefully getting some babies from a breeder at some point over the next few months, are they likely to be able to escape from the abode?

Re: Toys for rats?

My boys like to have a cardboard box to sleep in, I also sometimes give them nuts with shells on. Most rats like hammocks and mine also have a wooden chew thing and a wooden tunnel. You could also try things like ropes to climb on.

Re: Breeding for yourself

One day in the future I would love to foster a pregnant doe, maybe if there was another big rescue like the park rats or hutch rats. I'd then get to experience having a litter of babies, find new homes and keep a couple of bucks for myself.

Re: Do I own a couple of Smeezes?

They look smeezie to me. Is it just the flash or does the one in the right have one black eye and one red? I'm guessing just the flash.

Re: Bloody nose

Any paper bedding is fine, biocatolet, carefresh etc. Its much cheaper to buy something like finacard in a bigger bale online though. And like Spoonrat said, porphyrin is normal, it looks alarming if you don't know what it is though. He's probably just adjusting to a new home so a little more stress...
