Re: Where to buy perspex or correx?

I'm going to move my cage downstairs soon so I will be needing some correx to block off the tv and maybe the stairs, thanks for the link!

Re: Cleaning

Depends on number of rats, cage size and if they are litter trained. If they are litter trained you could just empty the poo out of the tray regularly and clean the rest of the cage every week to ten days depending on how often it needs it. I just empty all the litter out and give the cage a good wi...

Re: Need opinions on my first mix please

Thanks for your advice. I think I will use the kidney friendly mix, however if I get some younger rats in the future would that be suitable for them as well? I think I will go with the flaked soya as well when its back in stock and maybe just a few shrimps for variety. These are the bran sticks, htt...

Need opinions on my first mix please

My 18 month old boys currently eat nuggets, I want to switch them to a healthier diet as they are both a bit on the podgy side. This is my shopping list for Rat Rations but I'd like opinions and advice on improvements before I order 60% Base mix - unsure wheterh to use base mix #2 or the kidney frie...

Re: When to get a new cage?

My maximum at any one time would be 5 but it would be more likely to be 2-3 most of the time. I was thinking maybe an Abode

Which brings me to my next question - any recommendations for cages?

Re: URGENT think misty is choking

"Hold your rat firmly around the neck with one hand, and by the base of the tail with the other to hold her securely. Make sure there are no objects within an arm's length. Lift the rat overhead and bring her down in a rapid arc, so that at the end of the path she's tail up and head down. This can b...

When to get a new cage?

I am in need of a new cage because I've fallen out with the critter 2 - it is awkward and holds smells and is difficult to clean. I will also be getting more rats this summer, anytime from late May onwards. So what I'm not sure of is should I go ahead and get the new cage now or would it be better t...

I've got a mental image of my red eyed rats wearing glasses now

Red eyed rats do have poor eyesight, it doesn't limit what they are able to do at all and it won't bother them so there's no need to worry.

Re: My Rat Has Gone Missing :(

Have you tried listening for her scrabbling around somewhere at times she would normally be active? I'd try using a humane trap as well and leaving little amounts of food to see if it is taken would tell you whether she is still in the house

Re: HELP what is normal now idea? New Rat New Owner

Rats are incredibly clean creatures and groom lots, unless he has the signs of mites that Jird posted I wouldn't worry

Re: HELP for a New Rat Owner

Other people have already given you lots of good advice: - He needs same age company, NOT from a petshop, someone's already posted the link to the NFRS breeders list for you - Post a picture of the cage in the Habitat section if you aren't sure about it, and there's a cage calculator here http://www...
