Re: Rat rations order
You do need a calcium suppliment as well as Daily essentials as this doesn't have calcium in it, just pretty much everything else. This is because easily absorbed calcium (such as the types you find in many suppliments) shouldn't be fed daily as the body needs at least 1 day off a week or so to abs...

Litter train them in the cage and have a litter tray out during free range.

Re: Whats involved in running a rescue?
I thought I'd have had interest in my rescues prior to the end of my tennancy (in 3 weeks) so I had to either find fosterers (which I have done) or find somewhere happy to let me bring them. Luckily I've found somewhere which is rat friendly and doesn't mind more than 1 cage :D It just kind of shows...

Re: Whats involved in running a rescue?
It doesn't have to be on a large scale. You could always offer to foster a couple of rats for someone who has a rescue, and can feasibly q'tine for you.... or could a friend ratsit some fosters for a couple of weeks? You could even see if a local rescue centre would let you foster some rats :) You c...

Re: Whats involved in running a rescue?
I plan to have my own 'rescue' in the future, although I do alot of fostering, rehoming and rescue now, although I do not have a name, and do not call myself a rescue at present. Because I am planning to have a rescue in the future I am starting to collect cheap and free cages to build up my stock p...

Re: Lost rattie found me...
I really don't understand why it's been decided not to quarantine this rat or treat it with some ABs. Lets hope he isn't carrying anything, especially now he is in a place where there are lots of rats :o Or treat for internal parasites or mites/lice. I agree =/ I might sound hypocritical to those t...

Re: Lost rattie found me...
Ideally he shouldn't be intro'ed for 2 weeks as he should be quarantined for being outside. And as you don't have any rats at yours then air space issues wouldn't be a problem
It's so sad when they've been alone but I'm sure he'll soon learn some ratty social Skills!

Re: Lost rattie found me...
Aw, poor lad. I'd get him a course of broad spectrum ABs (something like synulox) just to be on the safe side, and if he's had a scabby tail, it might also be worth getting him checked for mites. I don't understand it either - given you can dump a rat with few questions asked at PAH, I just don't s...

Have you got him on Anti-biotics as he's been outside?

Re: Stop the smell
Get an air purifier like someone said above and get tap-a-drop . I'd also be thinking about changing their diet. Info can be seen here and here . If those articles completely confuse you then you can buy ready mixed food from rat rations . i use ecobed, wood cat litter (which was the best thing ever...

Re: Opinions or advice needed on if 2PTS please
I'd agree with Malude. There is a list of recommended vets here.
But I wouldnt PTS if they were fit, energetic and eating. Sometimes respy noises can be lung scarring - it sounds respy but actually its just scarring
