I've got the inner from 2 carpet rolls cut into managable lengths, you have to cut through it with a saw though!

Re: Starting a new line (hypothetical discussion)

So does this mean that pretty much all approved breeders started breeding with rats that were from other already approved breeders? (Sorry if that sentacne makes no sense I've had very little sleep!) Re: Tumour or Abcess?

That sounds like good news! Hopefully it'll resolve itself ok. When mine had abscesses I was given Baytril and I've had no reoccurances but I don't know if there's a better one to use.

Re: Spaying female rats

Do you only et the long term health benefits of spaying if it is done when the doe is young? In the 3 -6 month age range. Also if you need to concider spaying for any reason particularly is there an age where it becomes very risky or the cons start to out weigh the pros? Say 18 months + perhaps?

Re: an introduction to genetics (an idiots guide?)

most of you know im a rescuer not a breeder, but I am fascinated by genetics. Most of it goes over my head but I would like to learn more about it. For example recently it was said that its hard to breed healthy downunders, something I had never heard before, are there any other varieties that shou...

Re: Very Aggressive rat

One great tip I had was to wear an old t-shirt or something for a couple of days and then make is the bedding/lining for the nest so the rats associate your smell with being safe. Think it worked pretty well when I got my girls.

Re: Cage from hell

I'm so sorry you went through such a horrifying experience :( The cage looks like a critter 2 which is quite a common rat cage and although I have never heard it to have caused the death of any rat I think it's good to warn others of potential dangers. Yes. I will save for a new cage and I have cru...

Re: FR's atmosphere currently.

what I've seen the majority of 'arguments' seem to start because (theres no other way of putting this) some people are a bit uptight... I've seen a few posts where I've read it and thought it seemed like a perfectly normal and acceptable thing to say, then scrolled down to see someone starting to r...

Re: FR's atmosphere currently.

People need to understand Fr is a forum not just an information service. There are going to be emptive responses to some topics. Just as you shouldn't take advice here instead of seeing a vet, you shouldn't take anything too heart. The internet provides a certain anonymity so you must expect online...
