Re: Daisys going downhill fast resp/heart issues

Thanks for the info, I did a search and dandelions cropped up as having diuretic properties, she has these dried as part of her herb mix and I also noticed garlic but she already gets this daily in her normal food. I think it was certain vegetables/fruits that i'd seen previously so i'll try doing a...

Re: Calorie requirements - elderly rat on babyfood

I'd Definitely agree with getting some Nutrical, i'm never without the stuff and also about jars of baby food. I found Daisy did much better on powdered baby food, she was eating a decent volume of the jar stuff but it didn't help with her weight, I think it maybe that the jars contain a high percen...

Re: URGENT ADVICE: Daisys going downhill fast resp/heart issues

I'm not sure if I should put this seperate under feeding as it also relates to this topic. Daisy is still being a little trooper and pottering about, eating and drinking and things but her chest sounds a lot more fluidy than usual, and although she's had her heart meds increased which will hopefully...

Re: URGENT ADVICE: Daisys going downhill fast resp/heart issues

Awww, silly girl making you have a panic! And probably why my first couple of posts didn't make much sense, sorry  Daisys had among other things chronic resp problems for quite some time now but she's always improved with treatment and still gets so much out of life even if her breathing does...

Re: URGENT ADVICE: Daisys going downhill fast resp/heart issues

Best of luck, hope she doesn't have to too soon :hearts: I still hurt and it's been 3 weeks. My thoughts are with you. Thankyou :hearts: Hope your okay (((Huggs))) It's been 3 weeks today for Parsnip and 2 weeks to the day for Whispy so yesterday was absolutely horrendous because I thought we were ...

Re: URGENT ADVICE: Daisys going downhill fast resp/heart issues

Thanks Sati, I don't know what i'd have done if she hadn't improved, she's had so many near misses now that we used to automatically think she would pull through, but reality is really starting to hit after today and know that if she's not much better by the end of the week or she has another chokin...

Re: URGENT ADVICE: Daisys going downhill fast resp/heart issues

Thanks for the well wishes x I can't believe i'm actually saying this but she's back home :D :D She retched some more just before we arrived at the vets and looked absolutely worn out by the time we got there, we had to leave her for observation and were to ring back at 6:00 but got a call around 5:...

Re: URGENT ADVICE: Daisys going downhill fast resp/heart issues

I agree entirely as this is what i've had tro do with all my other girls, Daisy has just been sick or looked like she'd gagged a piece of dried food up with some horrible frothy stuff so don't know if it's the cause of how she is atm, she does seem a bit more energetic than she was but i'm holding o...

Daisys going downhill fast resp/heart issues

Sorry I don't have time to explain everything as I need to leave for the vets soon, but basically Daisy has been struggling with pneumonia/ear infections with head tilt and suspected heart failure since we got her last September, she's currently on Frusemide/Fortekor and has just finished a course o...

Re: Spa tone doseage

She sounds, er, lovely! :o Esk was successfully spayed, but bloodloss was so bad that she nearly bled to death. She's eating a little bit now, and is more active and interested in things, but is very very pale and weak still. A few weeks sounds like a good sort of time to go on, thanks. I will see ...

Re: Syringing meds

Sit her bot on your knee while holding her body upright with your fingers around the back of her neck/shoulders and under her arms, that way you shouldn't need to apply any pressure to her lower half but should still be able to keep her head still enough to get the meds in...Good luck :luck: Debz :d...

Re: Spa tone doseage

What happened with the vet?! And how long did you give it for? I'm giving it to Esk with nutrical. Or rather I was, she's not really eating so I haven't tried today's dose yet. The so called vet that was terrified of rats and stated she didn't like them stood at the opposite end of the room while l...

Re: Spa tone doseage

Glad it's helping, it certainly did the job for Daisy even if it did cause a riot with the emergency vet when I told her i'd given an iron supplement :o It's 7 mths ago since i'd had to use it and a lots happened since then so i'm glad the dose I gave you turned out to be correct, would have felt a ...

Re: Spa tone doseage

When Daisy had vaginal bleeding/Pyo I was giving her 3.3mls per day mixed in with some Ribena to hide the taste, I can't remember where I got the dose from, but it was Vic (RatRitz) that recommended it so more than likely from her. I do know it wasn't a dose I would have guessed at, I just can't rem...

Re: URGENT LINK TO RAT SWING PLEASE

I'm really pleased you've found a good vet and that he's doing everything possible to help Iris.
It must be such a relief for you, especially now that she's had the scope and nothings been found , heres hoping the meds kick in soon and she makes a speedy recovery :hearts:
