Re: how much protein?

It varies with each rat and how they are growing but generally once my kittens reach 14 weeks I cut protein meals down to once a week. Eggs and fish (cooked) are great forms of protein for rats.

Re: Cat Litter

I agree that papelit is a great option. 100% paper an non perfumed, you can also buy it in a bundle with finacard which saved me loads. I wouldn't switch to anything else :)

there isn't enough floor space i'm afraid. maybe a cheap freddy/jenny/tom etc on ebay or gumtree would be worth looking into :)

Re: consructive critisism please.

i think it's a lovely setup. the hanging basket thing looks good for nesting/ digging/ sleeping :D and hammocks are always good for lazying about. that curvy tunnel is great and i love the hanging hammocky thing you have at the side. i would remove the shelves as they should be able to get around fi...

Re: duetto no middle

i did and i also mentioned that i wanted to use it for rats and was worried about gaps and his response was very confusing. he said there is no horizontal divider but then said there is a pull out try which is a divider. i'm assuming this is the bottom tray. his response was 'there is NO horizonatl ...

Re: duetto no middle

he just said that 'no shelves or dividers are present' but i'm assuming i could cover the gap, if there is one, with a piece of wood or correx short term? i could probably get the OH to fix it soemhow since he's very handy with DIY.

Re: Is the happy house rat cage any good?

I've just been looking at that cage to add to my collection :D so do people think it's worth the £140? I have two furet xl's that I got for £50 for them both second hand so i'm not sure about parting with that much money for the happy house especially considering my explorer was only £130 new at the...

Re: Which Cage?

i like the freddy bases as substrate doesn't go everywhere but the tower is of course better for size. why not try something like a furet xl so it has a nice deep base for substrate like the freddy but provides much more space :)

Re: Difference?

I own an explorer but when i next do a cage upgrade i'll be getting an SRS not an explorer. Since the price of explorers increased from £130 to £200 this year they are only slightly cheaper than the SRS now and i'd rather pay the extra. The SRS has horizontal bars on the sides which make climbing ea...
