Re: Criiter nation

I think its the base of a storage tub that people use, from what I remember reading it doesnt sit completely flush so there is a bit of a gap left. Personally I wouldnt risk using something plastic and chewable to seperate them though...

Re: My rats are abit boring and lazy.

I've only had boys but mine are very active, so I totally agree that boys arent th. I think scatter feeding helps a lot, I scatter feed in the base, 2 hanging baskets, a plastic one and an excersize ball, so they have to get around most of the cage or they'll go hungry  . The layout of the cage...

Re: male rat --agression

I believe between 7 - 10 months tends to be the hormonal period, so its likely thats the cause. When you say he tries to kill them, what has he actually done?

Re: Ratty travel - house move

How have you been trying to rehome them? I dont see anything from you in the rehoming section, so it may be a good idea to put them there. Have you contacted any local rescues?

I dont think thats too long a journey so they'd probably be fine in a carrier :)

Re: Whats involved in running a rescue?

I think what I'm best to do would be once we've moved house and have enough space for a few more cages start fostering and rat sitting to get a good feel for looking after large numbers, also rehoming ratties too also get my driving test passed so I dont have to rely on OH taking me everytime I want...

Sudden rattly breathing

Over the last half hour Cheech's breathing has become quite nasal and rattly, no porph or sneezing and is otherwise in perfect health (still bouncing around the room like an idiot  ). It sounds like a slight blockage rather than a respy thing to me. Do these kind of things always require abs o...

Re: Whats involved in running a rescue?

Its really good to learn all this, I know I often see ratties in the rehoming section stay there for a while and some end up closed to be kept but I guess I never really thought of the impact that has on the rescues. So its not necessarily that more rescues are needed, its more people rehoming? Mayb...

Re: Rat rations order

I put mine in daily, they get it stronger on the days they get calcivet and weak on the days they dont. I'm not sure what you mean by when you change it daily / putting it in everytime, do you mean if you change it more than once a day? If so then yes I would put it in the new water also. They do ne...
