Re: Question about ongoing resp problems

Wow 31 mths that gives me :) hope. He is in a room with open windows all day, His cage is a SRS, gets plenty of time out, is on RR complete mix with loads of fresh stuff and is on cardboard squares with paper bedding. He is just over a year. He is noisey when stressed/excited and sometimes for no re...

Question about ongoing resp problems

Sorry if This sounds a bit stupid. If I treat my boy why does it keep coming back? It seems to ease up for about 6 weeks and then he is poorly again. Is it just one of those things? He is bad at the mo so was thinking of putting him on Baytril for 2 weeks. Will it harm him pumping meds into him this...

Re: Pooing everywhere

No hope for me then. My boys are all grown up. I am lucky I Free range in the conservatory so picking them up isn't too bad. If I do miss the odd one I usually find it stuck to the bottom of my sock  OH doesn't find it as funny. Especially if it ends up in the bed

Abscess problem

Hermie has had an Abscess for nearly a week now. I burst it , flushed with Hibiscrub and filled with Manuka honey. I have been doing this 2 times a day. Puss has still been coming out. Inside I can see a small amount of white that will not budge and the flesh is not as bright as it was. Shall I just...

Re: Best food for boys?

Some of my rats took weeks to start eating RR mixes. I gave them some of the food they were use to and some of the RR kidney friendly complete mix. I slowly removed the nuggets and now they love it. My new boy only just started to eat his new mix last night after 4 weeks! It will take time but is mu...

Vet wants to knock out to pop Abscess

Should I let him or wait for it to come to a head . He has had it for over a week now (post castration) His brothers 2 have burst and are healing well. They are both on Baytril 0.1.5ml 2 times a day. I don't fancy him going under because he was very sick last time. How long would you wait. Thanks :)

Re: Senior aid

I just give a squirt each on a dish for my oldies. They love it! I have noticed a big improvement in Dexter. He was starting to slow down and lose his bounce. Now he is like a young lad again :D

Re: Porphyrin around eyes stress?

She has been on drops for an eye infection since Monday and it is clearing up a treat. She is a very timid girl but is letting me do her drops no prob. I think she knows I am helping her. :) Makes a change, everyone else who gets meds etc thinks I am torturing them

Abcess burst in wrong place

I have been keeping an eye on Hermies new abcess and noticed puss leaking out away from the scab. As if the skin has split from the pressure. I squeezed it all out and flushed it with hibiscrub. The hole is so small I think it will seal up. Should I continue to soak the scab so I can flush it better...
