Small poo?

I just noticed that there are some very small poops in the cage. Almost mouse-sized. I'm not sure who is doing them, but is this a sign of something diet-related or what?

Re: Changing rat's name?

But doesn't anyone have trouble teaching the rat a new name if they already know theirs?
(I'm just curious as I dont know the name of the rat I may be getting, and am hoping it won't be something awful! )

Changing rat's name?

When you get a rat that already has a name, do you prefer to keep it or change it? When I got Whiskers, she was already named and I left it. And I'm hopefully getting a new girl tomorrow, and she's already over a year old so I'll likely keep her name, but I'm curious as to what others do :)

Re: Somewhat Lethargic and lumps on throat Please any info!

Sorry to hear your boy isn't well :( I haven't experienced this personally, but I wouldn't blame yourself as I think it'd be unlikely to be something you've brought home. Is there any way of contacting your regular vet, and just asking over the phone what they think it is likely to be? I know I'm no...

Re: Bad bite

Is it on his back? Because this happened to one of my girls during a rather violent humping session once  One of the girls was humping Lily and bit down on her back and caused a nasty mark (almost ended up looking like a baytril burn or a graze). I think as long as you keep it clean then it sh...

Re: Help please!

From what I understand, 5 days isn't really long enough. I believe it should be at least 10-12 days. Also, how much does your rat weigh? I'm fairly sure the dosage for baytril is 0.1ml for every 100g of rat, so a 200g rat would need 0.2ml daily, split into half (0.1ml) in the morning, then half agai...

Re: bruxing/ boggling

When they're doing it for a bad reason, you can usually see other symptoms. Like sidesucking, porphyrin or lethargy etc. But if they aren't showing that, then I found that bruxing from sickness or pain sounds a bit "harsher", if that makes sense. Like not as gentle and quiet, it sounds a bit louder ...

Baytril dosage question

I'm off to the vet tomorrow and my vet usually prescribes too low a dosage of baytril, so can anyone provide me with an article or something that tells how much should be given? Thanks :)

Thanks. Yeah, I'll be taking her to the vet anyway, but always like to ask on here first to get any extra advice etc :)

Teeth loose and not eating.

I just fed the girls but Layla won't eat. Normally she's the greedy one, but she refused to eat and instead started chewing the cage bars. I leaned down to have a look at her teeth to make sure they were okay, and I noticed that every time she bit down on the bars, her two lower teeth would move tog...
