What's wrong with her? :(

Okay, I really need some help at the moment, I'm at a total loss. A bit over a week ago I noticed Lily had a large-ish amount of porphyrin from one eye. She cleaned it off fairly quick and I kept a close watch. Soon it came back, and Layla had some too, so I phoned the vet. They said to bathe with w...

Re: Water bottle getting blocked?

What's a coop cup? This is all really interesting :D I just want the best access to water for them, as they currently have a salt lick in the cage which may make them thirstier :)

Re: I Love It When...........

I love it when... ...I'm trying to wipe up some wee and suddenly Layla snatches my tissue and runs off with it. ...I go to take a sip of tea only for Lily to jump on the side of the mug and start drinking it. ...When Layla sits on the edge of my mug and scoops up some tea, drinking it from her littl...

Re: Water bottle getting blocked?

Golgotha, I took your advice and watched them. They don't seem to be sucking, just licking (please excuse how that sounds!) but thanks for the suggestion :) Mollysmom, I haven't heard of that type, but good idea. I'll definitely look into a different type, it might be better than having two. Thanks ...

Re: worst intro/day ever

Definitely agree with Sandra_May, you're not irresponsible. You couldn't have known this would happen, especially as there was no screaming and they were all sleeping together. I reckon that leaving the intro until he's healed and they're a bit bigger is a good idea, especially as you said they'll h...

Re: urgent help needed, friends rat in a right state

The rat doesn't even have a name? How can he say he loves it then? He obviously doesn't give a toss about it. He sounds like a psycho, what kind of person makes you "pre book" a visit?! I'm utterly gobsmacked... You know, by not reporting him, you're prolonging the abuse of that poor animal... That ...

Re: Water bottle getting blocked?

Thanks everyone. Funny thing is, it's a brand new water bottle  I think I'll definitely have two from now on, just in case one stuffs up. Thanks again!

Re: urgent help needed, friends rat in a right state

If he loves the rat, or even cares at all, he should take it to the vet. I'm sorry but this makes me angry - if a person takes on the responsibility of owning a pet then they should care for the animal, which means vet trips are necessary every now any then. If his child was sick, would he refuse to...

Re: One irresistible male...

Could be hormones, as boys go through a really hormonal stage at one point where the testosterone makes them crazy. Not sure what age it is though, I've only got girlies.

Re: I think Boota may have pneumonia...

Sorry to hear he's not well :( Try putting a bit of Gatorade or similar drink into the water to replenish electrolytes, that'll help him rehydrate a bit.
I can't help with dosages for meds though, sorry :( Best of luck with it though, and I hope he'll be okay.

Water bottle getting blocked?

Hey everyone, my girls use a typical rodent water bottle that attaches to the wire and has a silver tube with a little ball inside. My only problem is, it gets blocked. There is no logic in when it blocks - it just happens randomly. The only way I can fix it is by tapping it quite hard for a good 60...

Re: Will this help?

That was actually really helpful, thank you so much. I'll definitely be keeping a close eye on them. I try and keep most smells etc as far away from them as possible, and the Christmas tree is at the opposite end of the house. But yes, I'll definitely keep a close eye on them. Thank you! :)

Will this help?

About a week ago I posted about Lily having a large amount of porphyrin around one eye. She cleaned it off pretty quick and I decided to keep a close eye on her and see what happened. It was fine until two days ago, when both of the girls had some around one eye each. I rang the vet and they said to...
