Re: Forum Problems?

Quick moment of panic; will the new forum still be open to people from outside the UK? I'm a "foreigner" but I can't live without this forum, the only australian rat forums are awful, where people don't care about the rats or have any knowledge. Plus, I'm moving to the UK one day, when I can afford ...

Oh ok, so does that mean we'll have to create new accounts/usernames etc?

Question about new server?

Sorry if this has been mentioned and I've missed it, but when FR moves to the new server, will all existing posts disappear or be carried over?

Re: Dull coat?

Thanks. Funny thing is they're only 8-9 months old, so I don't know that it'd be kidney-related this young? But I'll definitely look into fish oil, thanks! :)

Dull coat?

I've just noticed in the last few days that my girls' coats are all looking duller than usual. They seem totally fine in themselves, so I'm just wondering if it is likely to be diet related or if I should be looking for something specific? I'll keep a close eye on them, but are there any tips for ge...

Re: Bloated?

Yeah, I shudder to think what'll happen to them. They'll probably either end up as snake food or pts :( Harsh, but true. And I'm guessing it was a pet shop? No sensible breeder would've allowed that :(

Re: Bloated?

Please tell me that you've had them separate? If you've only had them since Friday, surely they're still in quarantine? And where did you purchase them? Were they alone before or with males? Sorry for abrupt questioning, I just get concerned when baby rats are having babies of their own :( A bit li...

Re: Electric shock?

I'm sorry no one got back to you last night, how is he doing this morning? There's a page on first aid here, with a section on electrocution, but it isn't very helpful in this circumstance as it refers to rats who have been severely shocked, whereas it sounds like Pierre probably only had a small sh...

Re: is this normal for girls?

My pink-eyed girls do this too, their eyesight is a lot worse than other coloured eyes. It sort of helps them with depth perception I think.

Re: Help with writing a list for new owners please

* Good sized cage I'd give a link to the cage calculator, as many new rat owners may think they have a good sized cage but don't realise it isn't big enough. When I first got my girls I thought the cage I had was big enough for two, but then I came across the cage calculator and found that it wasn'...

Re: Rat harnesses/leads

If you want to take your rats outside and let them run around, a great idea is to get a rabbit hutch or similar bottomless wire cage (make sure the wire is narrow enough that they can't get out and nothing can get in) and pop them inside there on a nice grassy patch. I did this with mine yesterday a...
