Re: Rate That Layout!

Ohh great ideas! Thanks! Shall try getting more string or fishing line and making it smaller, also thinking maybe if i use two strands instead of 1 it might make it thicker and less of a worry? I really like the idea of the cat post thing, think i will def try this for the girls cage and possibly th...

Re: Rate That Layout!

With regards to the boys, it's a furet plus, as i think i mentioned and can hold 4, plus they get a lot of freerange. They have a wheel but i removed it because they didn't go near it. I'm also afraid the tube and ladder have to remain for now because albie cannot get about without them and i can't ...

Re: Urgent advice needed!!

If you have more than one bottle, stick one in the fridge for half an hour and alternate them. You could also put in a little bowl or dish with some cold water and ice cubes.
You can also get chill pads (for chinchillas i think) in some pet shops, they would prob work too.

Re: Rate That Layout!

Yippee! Going to show both my cages, if that's okay. First, the boys cage. I have 4 boys, 2 are about 2 years old and 1 has HLD. The other two are 4.5 months old. So I've tried to accomodate both. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d48/weedinosaur/247863_10150210504913171_588978170_7317326_1241176_n....

Re: help! can i keep female & male rats together?

I have intact boys and girls in the same room in two separate furet plus cages. The boys cage is on the floor and the girls is on a shelf above them, so there is wood between them. We freerange in a different room so they don't often come into contact with the others unless someone is naughty and cl...

Re: Problems with aging old boy

Poor man ): i hope he is okay. One of my old men has hld and although i haven't ordered it yet, i hear senior aid is very good for them. You could also try a kidney friendly diet (check rat rations website). Also try to encourage him to exercise as much as he can. My boy seems to be doing good since...

deciding to rescue.

I am considering rehoming a female who is currently being fostered and am just looking for some advice on how to decide if I should or not. I currently have 4 boys and 3 girls (living separately). The girl I would be rehoming is currently living with two other females but they are both too unwell to...

Re: only one rat left in my cage :(

I suggest either getting some more ratties or rehoming him as you don't want him to be living alone for a long period of time.
You could rescue some adults of a similar age or get some babies to join him.

Re: first ever digging boxes.

Good luck! It took my boys and my shy girl some time to relax around it. They get pretty skittish around new things, but in the end they loved it. Def. aim for a tiled floor :D although i freerange in that bathroom and the carpeted hall beside it, so it was trampled through the carpet anyway ): Just...
