Re: Carrier recommendations please :)

I would like separate ones because woodshavings and hay and stuff for my bunny goes in there and I don't want the ratties coming into contact with it. Also sometimes hubby and I clean animals at the same time and therefore the cabrio might be occupied.

So yeah, separate carriers would be good :)

Carrier recommendations please :)

I have a group of five big older boys which is soon to expand to seven. I'm looking for a carrier to accommodate around this number (a couple more would be great) for vets trips and cage clean outs. I am anticpating that I will have to take all of them to the vets fairly regularly as none of my boys...

Re: are ice pods safe for rats?

I use the ice pods for my bunny because he likes to lick the water off but for my rats I use these as I have a boy who hates getting wet- even if the water bottle drips on him he goes nuts! http://www.petsathome.com/shop/chin-chiller-granite-chinchilla-cooling-tile-by-interpet-15848?freeText=Chinchi...

Re: Quick intro question

So is that a problem then? We can continue with intros as planned? Just wondering if Annie was on beat and she was an easy target that when she comes off heat all hell will break loose..?

Quick intro question

Last night we introduced our four baby girls to our 5 month old girls for the first time and things went incredibly well :D there wasn't even a squeak as they all ran around happily together- it was like they have always been together! However, I did have a quick question about something that happen...

Re: Advice needed - Baytril dosage

Normal baytril dosage is 0.1ml per 100g grams of body weight split into twice daily doses so for your little one it would be 0.2ml twice daily. If you find that baytril isn't effective you can always add doxycycline in- that combination is good for respy issues :) As for the scabs, is there any chan...

Re: sounds silly.. but do you need to clip rats claws?

It depends on the rat really. I don't think there is a need to clip them, unless they are so long they curl under or stop the rat from using it's paws properly. Saying that, my girls keep their claws nice and short but my boys don't and after a while they really scratch me when I handle them so I li...

Re: URGENT LINK TO RAT SWING PLEASE

It feels totally helpless not having a vet I know and trust. If I was in Plymouth I'd have had her investigated by now or taken her for an emergency investigation tonight. There aren't many rat people in Norwich so I haven't had any really good recommendations. So I'll have to phone my friend's vet...

Re: Porph around both eyes, no other symptoms

One of my boys had this couple of months back. It started off with just porph so was prescribed fucithalmic but then he started showing signs of pain and had a little porph around his nose- vet and I concluded that as his breathing was clear and he seemed ok otherwise he had a sinus infection and so...

Something contagious or just a coincidence?

A week ago we had our little boy Henry PTS after a seven week long battle with multiple infections. One of these infections was a particularly nasty upper respiratory infection which caused very wet, nasally crackling- there was never anything in the lungs. Now his brother, Albert, is making the sam...

Re: advice please - tiny lump

I would take him to the vets to have it checked but be warned- I had a lump that matched that description and the vet wasn't able to tell me what it was at that size and wouldn't have removed it as it was just too small to tell and too small to operate on. I had to wait until Albert's got a bit bigg...
