Re: To all those who keep their rats in a shed...

For mine I used loft insulation and then thin ply boards? I think, my mum got them for me (The boards that is, I know what loft insulation is  ). They don't get too warm in the summer, and they are also fine in winter though i do use an oil heater still, I set it at 10C so if it dips below tha...

Re: Strange berkshire rat!

I agree with Lisa - it looks funky  But just looks like a moult line to me, it should go :) One of my essex lads recently had hooded 'markings' over the top of him being essex but after a few weeks and he's lost it now :)

Re: separating babies from their mom

The babies cannot be seperated from their mum just yet - they're far too young to leave mum at their age. Please also consider rehoming them privately to good homes, rather than returning them to the pet shop :( Boys need taking from mum and sisters at 4.5/5 weeks, and you need to keep hold of them ...

Re: Breeders: do you reply to all enquiries?

Like MR said, i reply, not to loonies (not that i've had any loonies approach me!) but i do reply to genuine emails, wether i have kittens or not :) It's always polite to reply back at least :)

Re: At a loss at what to do!!

sometimes cleaning daily can be a bit overkill, as they will urinate more, to mark their cage as their territory each time you clean it. If the litter trays aren't dirty and look okay, try leaving them and do them every 2-3 days :)

Re: Question (survey) for breeders

I don't count really as I'm only just starting out, but I will be sending out something similar to Kyra :D I'll send it to everyone, whether I know them or not. Just like I make everyone fill out an application form, no matter how well I know them and even if I could fill out the form myself  ...

Re: Question (survey) for breeders

I send out a checkup email every 6 months and so far i've always received them back. The form asks questions such as; wether the rats have been ill, and what the vet treatment and outcome was (although all of my kitten owners are very good and inform me via email if the rats are poorly anyway) what ...

Re: Tuna

Yep :) I rinse it if it's in brine though, and normally get it in spring water, or oily sometimes for kittens :)
