Re: Smelly problem

As Jird said, try cleaning them out a bit less - the more you clean them, the more they want the cage to smell like them again! Once or twice a week should be plenty for a full cleanout :) You might want to wipe over particularly sticky shelves or change litter trays inbetween this though if t...

Re: Smelly cage :s

You could try soaking the cage in hot water/vinegar in the bath for a few hours or something :) I've always found white vinegar good for getting lingering odours out of things

You can still get tap-a-drop yes :) TRW and Acrorats sell it (afaik)

Re: Flax beddng and Megazorb

I like flax - i can't get it very easily so tend to use hemcore but flax was really good when i did use it before :) Megazorb is a bit dusty on occasion but not always. It got a bit unpredictable though so i stopped using it

I've ordered mine from Millbry hill - it's a 25kg sack though, so might not be so good for you if you only have a few ratties :)

Re: Amazing change on 'straights' diet :D

Thankyou Alison - I have 35 rats currently, which helps when trying to relate it to the straights diet in terms of how much you get through with yours :) Listing the amounts you order in one sitting would be fantastic, thankyou :) I'm not bothered if the orders are huge and costly if i'm not going t...

Re: Amazing change on 'straights' diet :D

Alison, could i ask how many rats you have and how long that mix would last them in the quantities in your above listy-post? I'm looking into doing a straights diet for my lot, i just wasn't sure what quantities i'd be getting the components of the mix in, i'm so used to buying 15kg sacks of feed bu...

Re: Cage/Environment Enrichment and keeping rats happy

There are some fantastic ideas on this thread :D One of my rats' favourite enrichments is 'grubby socks'. I nobble all the old/odd socks out of the laundry room (to mums dismay when she actually finds t'other ones!) and i fill them with allsorts - the first time i did it, i used wet cat food/tuna/so...
