Re: The simplest/easiest straights based diet?

It's very much an eye thing, how quickly they grow and how good they look. I found with my last lot of slower growing breeder lads that i carried on about once or twice a week up to about 3 months, then about every 2 weeks they needed a couple of high protien meals. I also stocked htem up on high p...

Re: Pulsing antibiotics?

Not got any suggestions, but will be interested to see any answers.. my vet has suggested pulse-dosing my boy Charlie, only giving him ABs at the weekends, which just seems abit mad to me..

Re: The simplest/easiest straights based diet?

Yep you can feed the kideny friendly mix to all of them, just once a day take your babies out and put them in a carrrier, or take your older rats out of the cage for some cuddles. And feed your babies some high protien food, something like egg food, rat rations reproduction and growth soakable mix,...

Re: The simplest/easiest straights based diet?

Been reading through this thread over the last few days, & the mind boggles! I've 3 boys age 18-24 months, but will be getting 2 babies at end of March - so the complete kidney friendly mix would be ok for them all, or would i need to give the babies something extra (or something else) ?? I know thi...

Im only just back at work this week after having 2wks off due to flu (which i had for a month), so im knackered - lack of sleep isnt helping! Re: Miles' behavior is odd..

drewelmo: They've got plenty places to sleep, but they all love that 1 particular spot - whether the shoebox is there or not.. & they all eventually endup asleep together, its just the 'going to bed' bit that causes the chaos.. elizabeth13; they're in an Explorer - massive for the 3 of them, i know....

Miles' behavior is odd..

Firstly, bit of background: Miles is 18months ish old, was in P@H til we adopted him at roughly 6months old, he'd got too old to sell so he'd basically been alone for most of his life while he was there. We got him a friend, 6wk old lad, Sam, who he got on fine with, but Sam died suddenly at 8months...

What variety is Charlie??

We rehomed Charlie a few months ago, & since then iv been trying to work out exactly what he is. I can see hes a rex, but im not sure of his colour. Hes such a gentle cuddly boy, wish id had him since he was little (hes now 18-ish months). http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k102/Hobb21/Charlie4.jpg h...

Re: Vet trips - take company?

I generally always take a friend along, tho the 1 i keep having to take to the vet at the moment lives on her own (Kaden - old girl, 2+a half) & is quite content travelling alone & sleeping in my sleeve.. The 2 boys i have (Sam- 5months & Miles- 12 months), have only been to the vet 1ce, when Miles ...

Re: mammary lumps

As a matter of interest, how much do people pay for a lumpectomy? When Kaden got a tumour removed in March, it cost £60 all-in. Now shes going in on Monday to get another lumpectomy, i asked the vet how much (its 3 lumps this time). His reply? £60! I find it abit odd, coz id think 3 lumps is bit mo...

Re: Not sure what to do

I agree with that - if its operable, & they're in good health, then its worth it. My girl Kaden had a tumor removed in March, since then 2 more have appeared & grown quite abit in the last 6wks or so, & another small one has appeared. Shes almost 2 & a half, but still bounces around quite the thing,...

Re: Advice please - Mite treatment in young rats?

You can get Beaphar Spot-On for them, P@H & various other shops sell it. You put it on the back of their necks. Theres one for rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets & rats, & one for hamsters & gerbils. Use the gerbil/hamster one. I had to treat my new lad for lice when he was only little, & the gerbil/hams...

Re: URGENT I'm clueless please help (with video) ):

Its scary when it 1st happens isnt it?! Iv had a good few rats do that over the yrs, usually, like the others say, after gobbling down food too fast. My girl Kaden does that every time she had her vitamin paste stuff. She loves it, so eats as quick as poss, which always results in that 'ears pulled ...
