Re: Litter size question

I wouldn't say it directly affects the number though I spose the more swimmers he gets in there the more likely it is that lots will find eggs

Pegasus Stud breeds for BEW, he might be able to answer your questions :) He's on the breeder's list AFAIK.

Re: Litters of one sex only

No, my rats are v. clever.

Summer managed to produce 4 - 2 girls, 2 boys, 1 cin and 1 sf of each. That is what I call being a Good Ratty.

Re: Understanding "type"

Again, I never said you didn't think it was important But I can see this thread going down the path of "those who show in pet are wonderful because they must breed for health and temp. and those who show in varieties are evil because they must only breed for type and colour" and would like...

Re: Understanding "type"

Maybe it seems to matter less in rats because we don't.. put bits of leather on them and ride them around? A horse has to be built well to withstand a human riding round on it. Rats generally aren't equipped with little mouse riders, cute as they would be! I never implied those who aren't training a...

Re: Understanding "type"

So if type doesn't "matter", does that make those of us who breed for it as well as health and temp. bad breeders? I never saw what was so wrong in showing and aiming to improve type. I like my rats to be like rats and to look clean and healthy, shoot me At the end of a day a good show rat...

To be honest breeders will probably be more open to you contacting them (and will probably appreciate the effort) than the other way around, unless they have babies available right now that they're desperately trying to home :)

Re: black masked dumbos

Someone needs to breed these rats Patience grasshopper. They don't have a standard so whoever breeds them will have to be prepared for the fact that they can't be shown in varieties. Personally I'd love to do it but I don't have the room (yet). I would really like to see masked standardised but I t...
