I can recommend Great Western Exotics, part of Great Western Referrals: http://www.gwreferrals.com

I saw Neil Forbes BVetMed DipECAMS CBiol MIBiol FRCVS
RCVS Specialist Zoo Animal and Wildlife Medicine (Avian) and European Specialist in Avian Medicine and Surgery. He spent plenty of time with us, answering all my questions, even printing off info for me and sending more in an email. This surgery has 3 exotic specialists. I think my girl got top notch treatment, for an all-inclusive price (which wasn't cheap, but seemed fair enough).

I can recommend a vet in Exeter, Devon that I found recently.

Chris Vogt
Polsloe Veterinary Clinic
25 Park Road
Mount Pleasant
Exeter EX1 2HS

(01392) 436006
Email: polsloe.vets@btconnect.com

Dr Chris is wonderful person who loves animals and is very gentle and loving with them. He knows a lot about rats too! I strongly recommend him as a perfect vet!
People in reception are so wonderful and kind that you feel at home there.

My recommendation won't be around until the end of 2009 if I remember correctly, but when she is around she's excellent.

Kirsty Ford
Aspinall Auld & Stevenson
Abbeydale Animal Hospital
20 Glevum Way
Abbeydale
Gloucester
GL4 4BL
01452 300596

Also have branches in Stroud and Quedgeley.

Kirsty is great, she loves rats and has kept them herself, as well as a variety of furry exotics. She's always been happy to discuss more than just the usual ratty liscenced meds and handles the rats with such care and respect. We owe a lot to her support when Dandy was ill. Our boys always get free scritches and cuddles with their examination, even if they're only there to keep someone else company.

Bradley Stoke
Bristol
BS32 9DT

Tel: 01454 275000 (24 hours)

(She also does the emergency service there on a Saturday if anyone needs a good vet in a hurry!!)

Seconded! She was recommended to me by someone else, and I've seen her once and found her very good - was very thorough in her examination.

I couple I rehomed rats to have been using:
Marissa Evans
Avon Lodge vets,
283 Wells Rd,
Knowle,
Bristol, BS4 2PP
0117 977 3230
http://www.avonlodgevets.com/

They have found Marissa Evans to be very good with their rats when they have had lumps removed and when one had stroke like symptoms.

I use:

I use

Clifton Villa Veterinary Surgery
Coronation Terrace
Richmond Hill
Truro
Cornwall
TR1 3HJ

Website: http://www.clifton-villa.co.uk/

They have a few clinics in Cornwall, I mostly go to truro but I think the vets sometimes work in different ones, seen a few different vets there and all seem to have a good knowledge of rats and medications for them, all seem to love them too.

I totally recommend Chris at Wotton Rowe branch, I live in Cirencester and really got fed up with the vets there thinking rats were just little dogs or not thinking anything about them at all, so I found Chris and was really impressed. He's very kind, gentle and honest. Bit of a trek, so I might try the one in Swindon too.

I'd like to recommend Woodlands in Plymouth. I've found Nick and Gisella to be especially good with rats.

I use Westridge vets in Tiverton (01884 255336) and although they're only semi clued up on ratlets, they're very open to suggestions and ideas and will regularly do internet research when they know I'm on my way in. It's a small practice and I don't think they see many rats other than mine but they all seem to enjoy the challenge of something a bit different and are lovely friendly people.

My vet is Companion Care in P@H - although I don't particularly Pets at home, but my vet is brilliant!

I see Colin Capner who is a specialist & has a special interest in small & exotic animals. He talks to them as he treats them and is really friendly. Love him & so do my rats! which is unusual.
