but you shouldn't point the mister directly at them, mine get a bit surprised of the sound it makes. but they love the effect. it's best to point it a little above them so they get a sort of a shower. they stick their noses up to get the best out of it. :D

My love it like other peoples ratties starfish at the bars for it. I have a old pop bottle which i fill with water and freeze then put it in front of the fan, they seem to love this too. I've also just added a piece of marble to the bottom of there cage and a friend recommend on really hot days cooling this down in the fridge.

Mine love their fan and i find it helps circulate the air, if we're going out we tend to pop it on on hot days as opposed to having the window open when we're not here. They also seem to enjoy laying in the line of fire as it were and sniff at all the new smells it kicks up.

A bit cooler today at last :)
So, yesterday I turned the mister on them and, after being a little spoked at first, they all came to enjoy it !
My as yet unnamed new ratty was the funniest as he would close his eyes and lift his head a way up then dash away and back again for more

Here he is:

Also, I was in the shop Lakeland and found these :
http://www.lakeland.co.uk/14887/Bottles ... ube-Shapes
You fill the bag with water, freeze it and them cut out the ice bars as you need them and they fit snugly through the mouth of a standard "classic" waterbottle.
Ive not tried the "ice bottle" ones yet, but they appear about the same size so they should fit too (worst case, jsut allow it to melt in the hand a little).

Between that, the fan and the mister, theyre more comfortable than me !

AHAHAHAHAHA I've just been doing this. SO MUCH FUN! :D :D :D

I'm just using a standard plant bottle spray, but with the spray cap twisted right back so it's a soft spray rather than a hard jet. Everyone except Esker is loving it; dridh especially :D They were all really hot a floppy, but they're moving about again lol.

Pure smile-generator isnt it  At first mine were like "wha ? where ? who ? zomg !"
Oh, by the way, I found a nice solution to the ice cubes for bottles < if you have an Ikea nearby that is
It does work and they fit quite neatly into the bottle opening of a standard "classic" type bottle as long as you dont overfill the ice tray. Not terribly flexible so mine do break as I try to push them out, but its better than trying to smash up ice cubes !

Amazing photo! So cute :D

I was thinking of getting one of these: http://www.petsathome.com/shop/chin-chi ... rpet-15848
since I'm out at work all day, so they can keep cool on their own :)

The spray bottle does look like fun...

I have just got an 'ice pod' from Pets at Home - basically an ice pack that you put in the freezer for a few hours, then place in the cage. Will let you know the result!

an easy way to keep them cool without forking out is tiles, or making your own rice bag and sticking it in the freezer :D

Rice

a while ago I made my own heat pad, which I put rice in and I thought on a hot day it could be cooled, so popped it in the freezer for an hour or so and it stayed cool a while, unless my boy laid on it and it was room temp within the hour
Although it didn't work to well with the girls as they ate through the bag..
