my cages

Post by donald110 » Wed Aug 03, 2011 8:19 pm

here you see my cages for my girls just want to see what you guys thought. the cages are old parrot cages brought from a friend for under £200, hope you think i got a bargain.

its a good job i am tall or i would not be able to reach the top without a ladder :o . because both cages together at a total height of 8ft tall, and 4ft wide by 2ft deep (roughly), so my girls are spoiled, with each cage on the rat calculator saying suitable for 12 rats. i think 6 fills each cage nicely. 8)

i have two groups. the bottom group has 6 and the top has 4 (for the moment).

this is one of my newest girls showing how to sleep on a cargo new.

and a quick picture of the top group with two new girls (new ones are black hoodies, named Bella and Ellie).

it is soo easy to clean out. only down side i found is the bar spacing was too big for little girls, so had to wire mesh one cage so no one escapes. :o

that Bella, and they look cute, but they are devils. when we first started handling them, my hand got ripped to shreds, they were really scared of us, now they are getting better. still try to get away, when being handle but no were near as bad. i did get a kiss of one the other day i was so excited. they put on 180g of weight each and they been with us just under a month. still got a long way to go with them but there doing great.

Oh, that`s Bella....She is like my Lois ...She`s lovely.

I didn`t notice that the cage was meshed....You`ve done a really good job with that. I once had to mesh a cage while I had babies and it didn`t look as good as that ! haha !

it took me 2 weeks to do, used garden wire to hold mess to the cage wire. there garden wire every 2 -3 inches, to hold it tight. i wanted it to look good and not have to be done again for some years.

Nothing wrong with that! As long as you have the space! You could convert a room into a walk in cage/aviary thing...
