hi, i have just made a rat playpen out of hardboard and i need to coat it with something is emusion paint or pva glue safe to use??

I'm pretty sure emulsion would be dangerous. Not sure about PVA as I think its child safe but I don't know how ok it would be if they chewed it regularly,

Enamel Plastikote, the child-safe one. It comes in pots or spray cans, people on here use it to refurbish cages and I've used it on wooden shelves, they have no interest in chewing it. You can buy it at wilko's for about £3 a can.

you could get jetplac from homebase make sure you pic the one with kids toys on the tin

Or from B&Q this stuff - enamel paint safe for use on childrens toys. Spay probably good for large flat surfaces and paint for cage bars.
