Embedding Video on FR posts ?

Post by HereticPr1me » Fri May 06, 2011 11:19 am

Hey,
Just a quick technical question.
Can we embed video onto FR posts ? Only way I can see is to upload to photobucket and then paste the link which shows up as a picture on the thread which can be clicked and then takes you to the photobucket page to play the video.
Doesnt seem like this can be done from Flickr as it only has embedding HTML code - I suspect its not designed for forum posting, but can it be made to work ?

If not I can try uploading to my photobucket instead and hopefully it wont butcher the video quality  TIA

I did look into this when I made a video thread. From what I understand there has to be a change made to the forum code in order to link YouTube videos. I would assume it would be the same with other hosting sites.

Here's the info I found

Ah ok thanks.
Looks like the best we can do is a photo acting as a link to the video then.
ie to produce a picture that can be clicked and then open to the video hosting site. This is how photobucket seems to handle it, but it should work for anything. The picture URL and the video URL can be on completely different locations I think, the trick will be having a snapshot of the video so that it matches 8)

Thanks, Steve.

Yup, that would work, annoyingly it takes you away to the page where the video is hosted. A little tweak and it would work embedded.

Yeah, if it even just opened in a new window it would be good enough.
Still, as a workaround this aint bad and means we're not limited to just photobucket.
