Just a thought, i know im a pain! but might it be a good idea to have an 'emergency' section where non members can post? just incase there is an emergency and nobody about to approve their account? The section could have a few admin aides who could quickly delete any spam perhaps, or a mod could sort it in the morning. It would contain all spam to one spot and still provide the 24/7 advice the forum always has

If it's at all feasible then I think this is a really good idea.

I like the idea... but I can see most situations where someone would post is the kind that will get "go to the vet" x 50 :-? But I suppose for some people it does take lots of people telling them to do so!

All sounds lovely :D

Sometimes for some people seeing a vet may not be an option though so it would still be good to have somewhere for them to go and get advice until they can get to a vet.

Don't want to start a debate on this thread...but if someone can't get to a vet with an ill animal, then they shouldn't own that animal 8)

We are discussing the pros and cons of having a public posting board (which is likely to get mostly obscene spam I would think), but if we can set up a registration process that the bots can't get through, then we might allow instant registration (although members would still have to be checked afterwards in case they've reused an 'old-FR' user name).

Is it possible to mod posts based on their content? Eg, if something was posted in the emergency section (if we have it) and it contained swear words, it wouldn't be posted until unless a moderator came along and approved it. Just an idea :D

I'm liking the idea of accounts having to be approved. Another forum that I'm on does this and spam has been reduced by a LOT since.

I also really like the idea of Junior members and the adult chat section (even if it does mean that I will miss out on all the juicy FR gossip for a year   )
