mites

Post by choicestgirl » Sat Apr 18, 2009 12:38 pm

hi i have bought some beaphar (i think i spelt that right) for the rats as they all have slight hair loss and seem to itch.
it says it's for rats weighing over 300g, ferrets, rabbits etc etc
but we don't have scales.. is this very important? are most rats over 300g?
i'm going to try and get some food scales, are these the best for weighing rats? as i don't imagine others would register although i may be wrong.

thanks in advance!

Hello! I used the Beaphar one for my two girls - best thing you can do IS weigh them, but to be honest I wouldn't worry too much. I used ten drops for each of mine two that needed it and I got three treatments out of the tube.

I didn't think the hamster one was okay to use on rats?

it says something like that on the packet like, for rats weighing under 300g use the smaller animal packet (i think, don't quote me on this :P i will check)

beaphar mite treatment for hamsters is fine for smaller rats. I used it to treat my girlie who blatantly wasn't over 300g. She came to me with mites and they cleared up with the hamster version.

You're right and it does say on the pack that for animals under the 300g to use the hamster version :)

Did wonder if it was just a weight issue! ^_^
