odd one... smelly rat?

Post by fifiandbumble » Wed Dec 08, 2010 6:24 pm

Hi all,

my 2.5 year old hairless dumbo male has all of a sudden started smelling.... quite odd.... usually you get the normal "ratty" smell which doesnt bother me at all, but recently when holding him, when he crawls up my jumper, afterwards my clothes smell funny... almost "urine" like.... and its not cause he's peeing on me either.... Im wondering whether he has a infection, although I have looked on his underside and there doesnt seem anything untoward, its a really weird, and not very nice odour.

Has any one had anything like this? my poor boy.

Thanks.

Have you checked for penis plugs? If you search here there is lots of info on "how to".

Smell his ears, ear infections can really honk!

And also smell his breath too ... does it smell normal? (it shouldn't really smell of anything much)

See if you can locate exactly where the smell is coming from.

Smell his mouth, ears and rear then check his fur for dangleberries....

Is it fishy? If so it's most likely a penis plug. You will need to pop his johnson out and take a look!
