Thank you I will do,

I'm really hoping he makes it, the main worry is that the abcess gland has perforated his rectum :(

God luck to the wee one, i hope all is well.

i had problems with one of my boys, that meant he had to have his bowls manually evacuated....long story short in the end i had to let him go. i really hope your wee one pulls through this i have everything crossed for him xx

Just heard back from the vets and my Harrys alive!!!!!

He has made it through the surgery and is currently sat in his cage at the vets, I get to collect him about 9.30pm tonight.

Basically what the vet nurse has said is that the vet will call me in an hour with more detailed information but basically whats happened is they have managed to clean it out and attempted to repair the internal damage and so far it appears sucessful :D They have also done some reconstruction on his bottom (reconstructive surgery on a rat wow!).

The next battle we face is if everything works as it should and functions properly, and to avoid infection inside it...

Fingers, paws, whiskers crossed but I am daring to feel positive.....

My babys Alive!!!!!

wow thats brilliant news i'm so glad he's made it through give him a big cuddle when you get him home from me :D

when my boy had toilet problems i fed him loads of soft food and made sure he got plenty of fluids. aiming keeping the stools relatively soft (but not runny) as marieM advised avoid things that can dry him out like popcorn or other puffed grains. and avoid too much fresh food that could make his stools too runny or too frequent......the important part now is keping the infection down as i am sure your already aware....anyways sorry if im saying what you already know. still have everything crossed for a speedy recovery xx

Thank you all :)

No advice is bad advice, i'm greatfull for all i can get and doesnt matter how much a person knows theres always more to learn :D

I'm going to talk to the vet when she calls but i was thinking things like scrambled egg and babyfood, lots of water and dr squiggles as a good start to keeping things moving and softer.... need to find the balence dont want him to be runny or hard as its going to be sore enough for him poor little boy.

I guess first stage is finding out if his new system actually works..

I'm still being amazed that they managed to reconstruct his butt and rectum after it effectivly got blown up from the inside...i am sooo sooo lucky with my vets, they cost a bit but wow they are so amazingly good
