It sounds like his ABs and steroids were in a saliene. He'll be having more this evening, think I was panicking as the receptionist thought I meant separate to the med mix.
I have a habit of over reacting and going all drama llamery, not that you could tell...
I don't know what to do with myself. Hige went like this and had to be PTS as did Toboe after an operation. But Gaelan was in his prime! He had really started to bond with me, and the other rats. We've made some lovely progress the last few months. No longer hides under the bed in free range, always comes when I tapped the carrier or rattled a tub. Really mingling in with the others. I was hoping to have a few more months with him at the very least!
I just feel awful. It's so sad having a group dwindle and not been able to take more on. Like a dying colony almost.

Your baby is sick,I think a little overreaction is entirely understandable.
I am keeping my fingers crossed that Gaelan has a good night and things look more positive in the morning.

I've been checking this on my phone all day hoping for good news. I wonder if maybe the reason its hit him so bad is actually because he's smaller, so he has less fluid in him to loose? Dont blame yourself Lisa, its not your fault. Hopefully he'll perk up soon, thinking of you both x

I spoke to the receptionist this morning. The nurse says he seems a little brighter and has eaten over night. I am to call back at 4pm.

Thank you everyone. I think I was feeling so rubbish yesterday as I felt it was entirely my fault and that I broke him. I am just happy he is at the vets. I am so nervous about calling later. (Not just because of the bill!) I'm not ready to lose him yet, I want him to fight for me. I need him.

Gaelan's breathing is still really heavy so they are keeping him in over night. Got to call back tomorrow at 11am for another progress report.
Thank you for all the kind words people, they mean so much and are keeping me going.
