Midnight Rose,
Of my boyfriends does, Chim Chim, Sniffee and PeePee
PeePees death came on sudden and so she never had baytril.
Chim Chim had it-no reaction
Sniffee had it-no reaction.

so 2 rats treated-no reactions

My last does, Mihko, Faerie and BooBoo
All of them had baytril at some point-no reactions there either

So 3 rats, no reactions

The present does and bucks have not had baytril injections. The girls are 7 months, just been neutered. The boys are only about 3 months, so no baytril for any of them-and heres hoping theres never any need!!

Im not sure about dilution.. I have to say cus I trust my vet implicitly I never really ask.. I only asked about whther they would get gassed during the neutering cus I saw it on here-and they were having the anasthetics lecturer in for their op-so they were bound to be ok, Bairbre said they only use gas anyway..

My Charlie had a baytril injection last week, and no burn.

I don't know if it was diluted or not (I wasn't there) but in my case I do believe we have a very skillful vet. I wouldn't allow any other vet to do it, without getting to know them and their treatment well.

Sorry I am not sure 100% sure about the dilutions, but I think they would have been undiluted (having watched three out of the 5 – 1 rat twice)

Rats that have been injected with undiluted baytril: 4
How many of those rats developed a burn: 1

Rats that were injected with diluted baytril: 0
The dilution factor of the baytril (e.g. times 10) :N/A
How many of those rats developed a burn: 0

Burns that got infected: 0

N.B. The rat with the burn reacted twice in two different injection sites (both sites ended up with no re-hair growth), but the other three (all injected by a different vet) were fine. I asked the latter vet about the burns and he says it’s down to technique. He says you need to inject into the correct layer of the skin, if you go between the two dermal layers it will cause a burn.

1 rat injected with Baytril - several times over the course of a week.
When the vet injected, side of the scruff, came up with a burn after 2 days. Where I've injected - into the scruff, hasn't left any marks! :rollred:

This doesn't help you survey that much i'm afraid, as its many years ago since I last let one of my rats be injected with Baytril. After trying it 3-4 times with different rats of undiluted Baytril they all developed large scabs (thumb nail sized, hair falls out and often is left bald for a long time) and it clearly itched and was sore for some time afterwards. None got infected. After this, and the fact thay they squeal when injected, I refused to have it done. What I do is: Baytril diluted in water for less serious problems or for more serious problems using a syringe (no needle) I put 2.5% baytril (2ml) onto a small piece of bread and cover in strawberry jam. This twice a day for 7 days keeps rats happy and clears up infection problems.

i honestly cant remember how many rats i've had injected with baytril (probably somewhere between 8-15), or if it was dilute or not, but i've only had a minor burn with a small scab once which cleared up after a couple of days.

sorry, my memory is really terrible!
