how are you and your ratties keeping cool today?

Seeing as it is stupidly hot today i wondered how everyone is coping, rodent and human alike?

I am one of the lucky ones at work who has a fan so I am quite chilled.
I gave my boys frozen banana this morning and part froze their water bottles, they all have chin-chillers in their cage as well as the fan on, the curtains are drawn too but the room they are in doesn't get too hot.

when I get home everyone can come out for some freerange time and pea/sweetcorn fishing as well as some frozen grapes.

I am only just coping so I hate to think how any animals must be feeling.

I have some tiles in the rats cage, its not to bad here now.
Although this morning was just stupidly hot.

I'm in N.Ireland and half my house gets really hot and the other stays quite cold, must be whatever way it's positioned with the sun. It means our living room is BOILING and yet the ratty room is cool. I've left the window open today to let cool air circulate and gave them ice & dr. squig. in a bowl. But I imagine comparred to the rest of the UK it's not that warm at the minute.

Its times like these I'm glad I dont have a window in my room and our house isnt double glazed Its like living in a fridge!

Young rats are fine, degus pancaked, I'm showering every 2 seconds and inbetween I am rubbing my eldests rats ears and head with cold water.

The rat room is quite cool. During the day I keep the window closed then at night I open it to let some fresh air in.
They also have a chinchilla slab and a water bowl which I have put some ice cubes in. I've also got a fuzzbutt's ice hammock which I am going to buy a freezer block for too.

However I am boiling and spent all night with the fan on. Today hasn't been so bad.

Well i'm still waiting for my order to come with my granite tiles some put some dinner plates in the freezer and then out them in the cages. The ratties are pancaked on them at the moment! We live in the flat at the top of the house so we get everyone else's heat we've had all the windows open and the black out blinds down to try and keep things cool but i'm not sure it's working!

Now my rat room has a blackout curtain it doesn't get anywhere near as hot in there, so combined with the window being open all the time it's actually more pleasant in there than the rest of the house, maybe I should just sleep in there.

We're fortunate that our living room has no direct sunlight and so never gets especially hot, no matter how scorching it is outside We are sat with the backdoor open at the moment to let some air flow through though to stop it getting too stuffy.

What a graceful chap ! My lads did some pea fishing earlier and I didnt get round to taking the bowl back out, so they decided to cool off by fighting... in it .

today was okay but yesterday was a killer. I usually freeze some ice pod packs and put them in between 2 flatish baking trays so they cant be chewed, couple of ties to hold it together then pop inside a pillowcase. Damp tea towels put in the freezer draped over cage with the fan on them, keeps the sourrounding air cool and the sun off as long as they don't pull them into the cage to lie on
