Awh. I think it's probably because females stay a lot smaller that yours don't weigh much more? I'm no expert, but as long as you can't feel their spine or ribs sticking out, i'm sure they're doing fine. (:

I haven't noticed a difference in weights between top eared and dumbos and I've only had girls. I do know good breeder rats are usually bigger/heavier than the average pet shop ones. Our first 3 girls all came from a pet shop but came from a private breeder and were very well cared for while there which I know isn't the norm, and their weights at approx 10 weeks were:
Basil:198g
Dill:205g
Parsley:189g

At 16 weeks:
Basil:223g
Dill:278g
Parsley:223g

Basil at 2yrs:350g
Dill at 16mths:430g
Parsley at 15mths:320g

All the rest of our girls have been rescues so no idea of age, but they do vary in weight quite a bit.

Debz :dumbogirly:
Proudly owned by the ratty gang :dumbogirly: Poppy, Brown nose, Sage and seven adorable rescues
Gone but forever in our hearts our special girls :rainbow: Dill, Parsley, Basil, Midge, Whisper and Parsnip :rainbow:

Maybe then people should also mention if they are breeder rats or pet shop. (:

Albie and Chandler are rescues, originally pet shop ratties.
Splinter and Schuster are also pet shop ratties.
Dumbo, Rincewind and Twoflower are their babies that we kept from two accidental litters, so technically pet shop rats I guess. But... not really?

Found your post eventually :P
Wow, Poppy is 7g heavier than her mummy already
And obviously Splinters lighter so I shouldnt be too worried about Pippin then (shes only 242g)
Dumbo is Splinters baby, isnt that right? & Twoflower & Rincewind are Schusters? By any chance was Pippin the runt of Splinters litter?
Would love to see an update of all your wee ones current weights! Thanks!

Yep Dumbo is Splinters and the boys are Schu's.
I don't think thhere were any real runts as such, especially in Splinter's litter. Twoflower was a bit runty, but he wasn't THAT much smaller than the rest. Only just about enough to notice.

This week:
Rincewinde- 17 weeks - 458g.
Twoflower- 17 weeks - 440g.
Albie- (about 2yrs) - 615g.
Chandler- (about 2yrs) - 584g.

Will update later with all their past weights that i have and the girls.

Albie: 625g. (+10)
Chandler: 601g. (+16)
Rincewinde: 476g. (+18)
Twoflower: 456g. (+16)
Schuster: 313g. (+3)
Splinter: 304g. (-8)
Dumbo: 297g. (+1)

My first concern is how accurate my readings are. They are weighed in a carrier on scales and they move around a lot in it, but it's better than nothing, right?
Also concerned that Albie is quite the chubber and Chandler is catching up, so thinking of trying to put them on a diet.
Worried that Splinter seems to have lost 8g in one week, but shall keep an eye to make sure she's eating and not losing anymore.
Also concerned that Dumbo only put on 1g this week, depsite being the same age as Rince and Two, and therefore she should still be growing a good bit (tho. obv. not as much due to being female).

Any ideas?
Rachael.

Will take new pics later this week. Yea Poppy is like a 'big daddy' compared to Pippin, who seems so delicate & fragile!
Reckon that Rodney will catch up with her soon though as hes getting bigger everyday. Boys are now about 13-14 wks, so are a little bit behind the girls so far growth-wise.
